hello guys. i know it may sound selfish but i would really like someone to draw a character for me. i am not that good at it and i don't want the character's look to be geometry shape. so if anyone could spare me a character sprite please?

i don't think the story line is necessarily since I'm asking you a favor.  if you want it  i can assist you with it.
oh, and sorry for my English. I'm trying my best.

Anian

Well it would still be nice of you to say what kind of sprite you want. Not just the size but human, humanoid, animal, robot etc. What clothes, what style (example of some other game).
And no story required but a bit about the character - is he/she and astronaut, Indiana Jones, soldier, regular guy, fat, short, skinny etc.

Btw almost all characters start from being geometry shaped.  ;)
I don't want the world, I just want your half

amitmiti

alright.
well, my first choice for the character is for him to be a teenage boy, with hair that cover one of his eye. he's naive and slow to catch the situation (like when someone cheating in a game, or when it's cold). mainly like luffy from one piece, if somebody know the anime.
and i thought of what anian said and i want to add that in the game most of the land become a big desert in the prologue. quants theory accident appears, by mistake of course, and change the scenery into the dry desert.
um, i hope it'll help. and thanks for all the help and effort.

Game resolution would be nice to know, too, plus a rough "preferred size"...  ;) Also, do you just need a starting point (like static view for front/side/back), or are we talking animated walk cycles / talk cycles here?

Made a small sprite, nothing fancy, feel free to use this if you like it. It's mostly meant to be a starting point (colours are pretty garish, shapes very simple).

wow  ;D
guys, you're just unbelievable. thank you all.
it might be better full animation, since that character is the main one. so thanks again.
and about the questions of the size - at first i maid a background so all the characters I'll draw will fit the same size. then i realize I'm horrible  painting. so i can show you the background but i have no idea how to apply a picture here. but i checked the other character size and it's about 81 width and 170 height. just about that.
and again' thank you all!

amitmiti

hey, i just got a nice idea that i think no one ever tried before. how about to make the character wear a fisherman pants? it seems so cool. but of course I'm asking a favor so it is just a suggestion.

but i have no idea how to apply a picture here.

How to show us pictures:

1) Upload your image, a good place is ImageShack. http://imageshack.us/
2) You will be given a direct link; copy it or write it down.
3) In your post, write [ i m g ] link-you-just-got [ / i m g ], without the spaces
4) ...and done

This is also the way to get an avatar image up, if you feel like it ;)

another fast and simple way is use the ags forum uploader:

http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/upload/upload.html

just locate the images and press upload!
just some notes:
*81x170? You know the minimum size is 240x300 don't you?
*Try not to upload BMP's, they are HUGE, use PNG's or GIF's.
*Remember to scale the character to fit the background, post the background with a reference object for the size, like a door

The only person in favour of the mobs seems to be IndieBoy.. but he's scottish so we dont listen to him anyway.

Jakerpot: He's talking about a character size, not a room size. That's the size of a character he has.

amitmiti

that the background. not that good, i know... but i kinda like it. the objects are off, and the colors gonna change. it size is 860, 620. i hope this will help.

Hm. Okay, this isn't the Critic's Lounge, and it's a thread about you asking a favour, but I think you'll be better off with a lower screen resolution. The size of your background suggests you go for 800x600. I suggest you try 640x480, or even 320x240.

Two reasons: First, most people here are used to lower res, and will feel more inclined to help you when they can stick to their traditional resolution. Second, a low-res background is a bit easier to put together without feeling all empty and distorted.

A final word: You don't seem to think too much about that background/your artistic skills, but let me tell you, there's much worse around, and you seem to have a style at least. Stick to it and see what happens.

Try out Life Of D. Duck to see what I mean  ;)

The Life Of D.Duck games have fantastic graphics! They're really worth a look.

If you are going to scan art in and colour it, I'd suggest you use the Gimp... and a ruler.
