Can't get on these forums

Has anyone else here ever had a problem where they try to go to this website and get the message about not being able to reach the server--i.e., the message you get when you type in a non-existant address?

For some reason, that has started happening on my home computer (I'm using a different computer now), and it is ALWAYS like that.  I can't get to anything that uses the bigbluecup server--I can't get on www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk, I can't download games from other links if bigbluecup is part of the address--it's as if, for my computer only, the website just doesn't exist.

I use a wireless DSL connection.  My room-mates use it too, and they can get to this site just fine.  I can always bring it up fine if it's on some other computer, just not my own.  I have double-checked the address many many many times and I am certain it is correct.

Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

This used to happen to me ALL THE TIME. I never figured out why it was happening, and I assumed the problem was gone forever once the URL changed to www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk, since it hasn't happened to me since. If the solution is really as simple as SSH suggests, then I could have avoided a lot of frustration.

Actually, back when I had this problem, it would happen with what seemed like 50% of the websites on the Internet, not just this one.

I have this problem only with this website.  I'll try the browser cache thing but I am not sure that will work, as I have tried to reach the site with both Firefox (my usual browser), and Internet Explorer (which i almost never use, so there should be very little in the cache at all).

One thing did occur to me--I didn't have this problem until I installed Windows Media Center as my OS.  Could that be the problem?

Can't I ask something for which I've never found a solution please? I may just be dumb!

BUT: No matter what I try my computer won't remember my login information! Only in AGS Forums! Nowhere else! clicking remember me won't work, adding more time won't work, nothing will work really. So I've actually stoped browsing the forums as nikolas, and only as guest (even posted as guest in the complete games forum... :p)

Cache is clear, private date was cleared a couple of times just in case, in no vain. IE6 and Firefox produce the same problem.

Any ideas?

SSH

Nik, your problem is probably because your bookmark for the forums points to www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk, or one of the temporary locations it has had... or your privacy settings are set not to keep cookies for this site.

Nope.

No cookies issue (I have deleted and reinstalled firefox actually a couple of times, just to check), delted all cookies to start over, made sure that cookies are saved from THIS specific site (www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk), etc. I come to www.bigbluecup straight away... don't know what else to try. And it's only happening with AGS forums. No other site AT ALL!

I managed to fix the problem--I'm typing this from my own computer as we speak.  It had to do with the DNS, I just had to add the appropriate IPs to my hosts file.

If anyone else ever has this problem, PM me and I'll tell you how I fixed it.

For some reason, when I try to log into my account here (or mostly any account on a site) using IE, it crashes. It works fine with Firefox, however. Anyone know what's wrong?

Agreed. Although, I would love to be spoofed eventually.
Or, maybe we could have m0ds day, and all make our profiles to look like m0ds, to create confusion! Hooray!
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

[off topic] Okay, I'll spoof you now. [/off topic]
In order for you to understand the spoof of your username, you have to have seen Star Wars.  ;D
