I think I once saw a caption contest on the competition forum, but since no one is doing one now, would anyone be opposed to me starting one? It'll be a hell of a lot more interesting than my Programming contest ::)
You saw the caption contest in this forum.
I started it.
I shut it down immediately afterwards.
In this forum?
You?
It must not have done so good, eh?
Caption Contest? What?
That thread had been thrown into the eternal void, so no, don't start one.
it was shutdown cause i mentioned to DG that it will more than likely be a huge thread with posts that only had a few words in them and multiple posts by people and people saying how funny other quotes were and how other's weren't funny.
with the MSpaint/Photoshop/Programming/Sprite contests, at least that forces someone to make something instead of just posting a series of 4 word captions thought up in 3 minutes
Hell I don't think it's such a bad idea.
I think this criteria will minimize eric's concerns:
Devise each caption into a 3 panel strip with blank word bubbles.
Each entree must fill in all the word bubbles and post the picture. PSM magazine had a contest much like this.
We did a "fill in the speech bubbles comic thiingy" before, and that was very fun. Helm and Butcher, if I remember correctly, each did a comic where we would fill in the blanks.
Thumbs up for EvenWolf's idea. Maybe more than three panels would be even better.
It would be more worth the effort for the person to write a meaningful and humorous caption then upload it to their webspace then write a stupid one and upload it, right? I was also thinking that people could email me their entries and I would post the best ones. What do you guys think?
here's what I think:

If a serious thread gets started in the comp forum, you are welcome to use this image for the debut contest.
