Ok. At least to my mind, these three belong together. You kinda need all three of them to make up something interesting. (<-with no definition of interesting)

But. I have a feeling that these three are not endless. Correct if I'm wrong:

I did this experiment with my self. I decided to sit down and write very day one page (47 lines) of anything. Story, any kind, poetry, songs, whatever I felt like it. Juast to see how far could I take it, how long I could lastm how crap my writting would turn out. The result:

I wrote in total 67 (!) stories.
I spent almost one year writting them. But always one per day.
I never stretched a story to two or more days. I completed the stories at one day.
The first ten were made in ten days. 11-20 were written in 15 days and after that the thing kept going from worse to worse.
The last 3 were written in a gap of two months !!!!!
My ability as a writter went up! Very up!
The 1st 20 were original in their ideas, but their structure and language were not so good.
After that I really started fixing the language and especially the structure!
But I found out that I was repeating ideas...
Actually I particularly like some in the middle, where the stories are original as well as well written.

The same thing seems to be happening with my music.
After a year of writting music again and again if feel... well drained.
I don't feel like writting more music, although I have to and... want to. But everytime I sit on the computer on in front of the manuscript I end up drawing a character for a rpg!

This thread wouldn't have been a reality without the help of Wllington and his cliches and Flukeblake (!) with Simpsons (although he didin't mean it :))

You ideas, opinions?

If any moderator feels this should be anywhere else, just do it. I just think it is a generall discussion...

I wish I could do something like that. Sounds like you tought yourself alot.

Don't forget to go back and proof all those stories, though. One day, when you become famous, people will want anthologies of your work!

:-p

I don't think you can really use your imagination up but rather exhaust it by pushing yourself/being forced to write something.

Inspiration and imagination need some time to recover, after you've completed something.
Since you mentioned the Simpsons, I think this is pretty much true for most weekly series. Most of them run dry after a while - and that's most likely because the writers are urged to churn out a new episode each week. They often don't have the time to rekindle their imagination and to draw new inspiration from somewhere.

There've been a couple of times, when I thought my imagination would've been used up and I couldn't come up with any original story. But really, it was a mere matter of time; sometimes a couple of weeks, once about half a year.
But then, suddenly it was just like "Flash" and I had a great idea for a comic.

Hmm, the word "writer's block" comes into my mind... but then again this might be something different... ^^;

Anyway, the fact that you came up with the idea for an RPG, is a proof that your imagination hasn't run dry, isn't it? ;)
Everybody else is having one, so why not me?
