So I used to do this comic on paper whenever I felt down, about a stickman called Stickman and his pet rat, Rat. It's not really -about- anything, there's no storyline, there aren't even many real jokes, it's just a silly random comic but it's mine and I like it. And now I have decided to share it with the world! Lucky you. So here it is:

http://stickmanandrat.smackjeeves.com

If you like it, let me know. If you don't like it, let me know. If you wish people who put tripe like this on the internet would just die already...let me know that too. And hopefully, it's inane and horrible enough that you'll keep going back for more (it'll update daily)

Enjoy! Or don't. Your call really.

Heavily compressed JPEGs. Comic Sans font. MS Paint stick figures.
It's looking grim to be honest.

Trihan

Of course it is. I made it quite clear in the newspost that this was just something for me. Sure, I could draw the art properly, use a better font (though I haven't used Comic Sans anywhere :P) and use better compression, but that was never the point of the strip in the first place.

I'm not actually expecting anyone to like it to be honest, but I've made it and I'm putting it out there for people to see anyway.

ManicMatt

Half of any comedy value is lost on the fact that stickman and rat can't show any emotions. Look at a Garfield strip and dont read what they say. Still entertaining isnt it?

And one character talking means you can't have a two way conversation?

And they don't move? You're limiting yourself a bit arent you?

Second strip amused me a little.

hey, you did ask! Just keep at it anyway.

Andail

I'd hate to say things like "this has been done", but really...webcomics with crudely drawn stickmen and slightly nonsensical humor...it's been done so much you'll need absolutely exceptionally good comedy to make it even the least interesting.

Trihan

I'd love to say it'll have exceptionally good comedy but it probably won't. :P I'm not in this to make a vastly successful webcomic that everyone loves. I may at some point upgrade the art style but I haven't decided yet.

ManicMatt: These things will all be addressed in future strips, trust me. Stickman can't show any emotions -yet-, and Stickman can't move -currently-. It's the strip where anything can and probably will happen, just not right away. :P

Har, putting it this way...
It's so overdone that it's new.

I like it--
But I advise to change formula a bit...

...REALLY gets boring fast.

Make adventures! Characters! Give em' names! Personalities! Traits!
Because, it's not really a comic right now.

You know, Garfield is a lazy, hungry, selfish cat. If someone asks, people will respond so.
Who or what is stickman?

Right now, five lines and a circle illustrating some text... it's not a comic, it's simply a text.

MoodyBlues

Rat is way cuter than Stickman.  He (she?) should get top billing, not that two-bit, Blissymbolic character!

And, um, maybe people should think twice about using Garfield as an example of a good comic.  Has it been funny in the past fifteen years?

He's a lazy, hungry, selfish, fat, comically cruel, lasagna-loving cat. :P

I found the first two bad enough to get a giggle and I know you're not shooting for globalized fame here, but InCreator's got a point about your storyboard scheme.

This is true. Garfield sucks balls. Period.
I don't even remember a truly funny strip.

Trihan

I know that it's a bit formulaic right now, but I'm not going to be following that storyboarding template for very long, honestly. ^_^

*goes to make episode 4*

Trihan

Episode 4 is up, and I've made some changes you might like.

I agree. http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/ is at least mildly amusing, though!

Play_Pretend

I think Rat is looking speculatively at Stickman...thinking about making a takedown leap, possibly at where his sticks come together.

This thread is a page long and nobody did it yet.

Is there a reason NOT to want to?

On my screen, your characters have a whole swarm of JPG-artifact bees around them.

Call it Adventures of Stickman, Rat & Bees?

Trihan

I don't know why I didn't to start with, to be honest. jpg was just what I saved it as. :P

It's not like the art is anything sophisticated (yet?) so artifacting isn't really a worry of mine, but if it's that distracting I'll consider redoing them as pngs.
