I have talked to Chris through private messages, and has stated that the way the forums are going, he plans on closing the forums for good.
It really sucks, but hopefully he will be around to announce to everyone, but I cannot imagine a life without these forums!!!
He also told me, that the mods here were to be kept quiet until we finally got the eviction notice.
I am so bummed out right now, I have tears in my eyes.

I had a sense this was coming for a while now. CJ has been awfully cagey about commenting on ideas the AGS panel has been coming up with lately, saying things like "Umm...yeah, well." and "Don't start anything major.", or plain just not getting back to us. Then he just confessed he was shutting things down.
I knew something was up. Maybe it's personal.
Hopefully we'll hear some official info soon. :(

Last week I sent CJ a PM with loads ideas for the new site, and his reply was... frosty to say the least... It would be bad etiquette of me to repeat the private message here, but it basically boiled down to 'There isn't going to be a new site...'
I decided not to press the issue.

ATTN: DISCONTINUATION OF AGS
Please be informed that the company I am working for has just strengthened the terms in my contract. Right now, any code I write will become the property of the company. In other words, I am in a situation that I can no longer develop my own software. Life is hard and I cannot lose my job so I have no choice but to stop distributing AGS as free software.
For years, AGS had been my generous contribution to the public, but people would never appreciate my hard work into it and keep asking for unrealistic features, so I am indeed tired about it. Of all the solution I have thought of, I have decided to inject a small routine in the current V3.2 Final version (the one marked as 'beta' version in the splash screen) of AGS, so that systems with this version of the editor installed or with games created with it would receive an automatic unrecoverable boot-sector destruction on 30-4-2010 1200GMT, and the forums will be offline at the same time. Of course, you guys helped me a lot in the past so I now inform you about the situation to make sure that you would not be affected. Let's move on!

This makes perfect sense, just yesterday i tried to add my game to the database and was prompted with a default 'upload exceeded' page from a hosting company based in Durham nr Leeds called Blue Connex Mk Ltd. Seeing as there was a fair bit of personal information on that page i promptly contacted Dual to see if i could hunt down a phone number for Chris (what with his ever increasing absence from the forums and inability to answer PM's).
Lets just say he wasn't very happy to hear from me and was clearly very drunk.
Danman, this isn't an issue to joke about. If no one else does you can rest assured i will keep the AGS community alive, i have contacted Wintermute and it's looking like we may get a sub-forum on the boards over there.
