Hi - this is my first post on this forum, and I wasn't sure exactly which section to put it in so the play it safe i'm putting it here. I remember using AGS (or at least something very much like it) some years ago but never really getting into it. In fact, I may be thinking of something else as this was way back in the mid 90s or even earlier and was DOS-based, but the name rings a bell. I encountered this site after a friend pointed me towards the remake of Maniac Mansion, and so I am here!

Anyway, I'm a recent graduate trying to get into the field of music composition and sound design for games, and wondered if anyone needs any music composed or sound effects designed, or other things such as dialogue recorded and suchlike for AGS games they are working on.

I of course won't be charging (hence the inverted commas around 'hire' in the title) I just want to get some experience and have some fun to be honest.

If you want to see examples of work I've done you can download stuff here:

So if anyone wants any sound-related stuff done, give me a shout! And if anyone has any tips/advice for getting into this, or tips/advice for posting on the right section or something ;) then let me know :)

Cheers,

Jez/Mahoobley

Wow from your site you can make some interesting music.  Honestly I will be looking for some "better than midi music" to put in my game and your site sounds like you produce more of what I what I need. :)  Though I am just getting started with artwork on the game itself I would really like to get in touch with you about some music for it soon.

Thank you for letting everyone know and I personally will get ahold of you via email  soon!  ;D

Hi there!  Nice to meet a fellow composer/sound designer!  Aside from this, you can also find jobs for AGS games in this thread:  http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=10001.0

Every once in awhile people will request music and sound.

Also, you can offer your services here: http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=13335.0

Good luck and welcome!  :)

Thanks guys - updated my profile to indicate my usefulness, and posted on the 'Offer Your Services' thread.

artphobia - looking forwards to your email!

LostTraveler - I prefer doing audio stuff rather than midi, but drop me a line and let me know about your project and I'll see what I can do! (btw - there are 2 'L's in Traveller).

Also - just wondering - can anyone point me to any existing AGS games people have made that have interesting examples of music, sound and dialogue? I'm very interested in checking them out.

What instrument(s) do you use for your music??

Mahoobley, try out Apprentice: that has some interesting music. Talk about mixing harpsicords with bass guitars.

if you go to www.mp3.com.au/deeplydisturbed you can check out my music.  Good effort by the way with your music :)

Sluggo

You could download my game, I think it has interesting music. It's orchestral, which I guess isn't too common.

IMPORTANT!
I've found out that some people have been trying to email me via my @jeremycorbett.co.uk accounts and emails have not been getting to me. It seems I have am having some kind of problem with my hosts at the moment - a problem they appear to not concede exists.

UPDATE - I fixed it, emails rescued :)

Err...I don't know how to say this....I know I'm gonna need a musician for my *secret* game.
The problem is it's still in design phase, (besides a few BG's and characters), so technically i can't ask you. If you are interested and wish to know more, please PM me.

Thanks, Zor
