hey, my mate is working on a Car Modification game, and i'm helping him with Concept. I need some ideas, like
1. Which cars to feature ( not licences, i mean stuff like sports cars, muscle etc.)
2. Which Modifications can be used
3. Some kooky character ideas ( drug dealers, slutbags, it's all good )
thanks
So, you're helping him, but asking us for help? What are you doing again?
I think he's helping his friend to find help, but I doubt how many people here would provide relevant suggestions, especially when we don't know more about how that game would be like.
wow. 10 minutes. 2 posts not remotely helpful. wow.
[blake realises that both Gilbot and Puddin' could bash the shit out of him]
uhh... i mean... thanks for the replies guys!
[if you did not understand the above post, don't worry. Noone does]
Don't worry guys. This is Fluebukakke's weekly thread, he needs to make it to think he's an active member of the community.
The fact that he wants us to make something he could do with a 10-minute brainstorm with his friend is irrelevant... He just wants to say "I ares here!"
Keep pushing Fluebukakke!
:(
Oh, shit... Now I feel bad... :(

:(
Awww, man. That frowny says so much.
So this car mod game, is it an action game? I assume it's more than just cars and modding them. Sounds pretty cool.
Flukeblake:
If you'll need help like that, Fluke, give some screenies, ideas, etc stuff what you'll really need and how will the game ACTUALLY would look like. And name some similar games, aswell.
Will it be like Gearhead garage/Redline racing?
Or simpler like tuning part in Need For Speed Underground?
Or old(s)c(h)ool like Street Rod?
And so on!
So - Why raising a fight again?
Gilbot/Privateer Puddin'/Farlander:
Why raising a fight again?
FB was an annoyance when he came into forums.
Now, he's an annoyance because everybody treats him like one.
Heh, and I agree with Geoff - Fluke's last post was one of the most emotional ones I have seen for a long time :)

Heh was I? I was just telling him he may not get enough help if he's not specific on how he wants the game to be like. :=
It's not a fight... It's a call, or an advise, if you want to call it in that way, for not coming to the forums with every little idea that crosses through his mind. You can see that many times in the first page of every sub-forum there are 3 or 4 threads started for him. I don't have any bad feeling about Fluebukakke, it amuses me somewhat, but following all his ideas is getting a little bit exausting.
And yeah, I was going to post something like you posted, InC, about telling more of what he wants.. I'd like to help, but I don't have the necessary info.
Yeh, my bad, Gilbot.
Even I get somewhat nervous when reading FB's threads, I don't like quarrels and fights here at all :( That's why I misunderstood.
* shrugs
so, never mind.
ahhh! it's the why is the age limit set dammit post all over again!
Anyway, the game is basically like this. You tune them, but rather than racing them like in NFS:UG or MNC3, you enter them in Style Comps, where judges rate the performance, appearance and more of the car you have modded. You didn't honestly think i could do something as complex as a car racing game did you?

No one was saying such things. Actually the game's idea, if done good, can be fun to play, if the AI (I think) judges can give reasonable comments on the cars.
I remembered playing an old Apple ][ game, which was about designing a car and that was fun (forgotten its name).
I have no knowledge in cars, but for mods I think it can be about part changing, like tires, gears, bumpers, headlights, etc.
But I couldn't quite understand the "kooky character ideas" part, since I don't know how you're using these characters and how they can be related to the game (are they drivers? or the judges? or something else?) it's hard to give any suggestion.
You skuold look into an old 80ies game called "Street Rod". It was excellent. It included some driving, but also you modified your car, and if I do not remember wrong you won the other conestants cars when beating them. Then you could sell your car, and theirs and buy hotter ones in order to finally beat "the king" thus getting all the ladies...

Oh my. . . (!!1) Somebody who still remember this masterpiece!? You can download it absolutely for free, Blake. Now it's abandonware and highly recommended classics!
By the way, search for "Gearhead Garage" (probably an abandonware, but don't really know) or "Axelerator: Have a N.I.C.E. day" (less realistic but still very good). Not so long ago I saw some info about the third fan-made part of "Street Rod", you can download beta version from this site: http://www.streetrod3.com/ if you want. As well, here you'll find another two parts.
Have good fun!

Why offer help, if you're not gonna (or can't) help?
Why make a topic with very details? what are we meant to do, pluck the game details out of thin air?

Fluebukakke
Heheh....you like doing that, don't you?
The gaming world needs another car racing/modifying game like hollywood needs another basketball movie.
I think hte game should involve making sandwiches and drinking whiskey....
Also, placing penquins on the track might be cool....
Hah, hah. . . I see the last Flukeblake's threads are in pretty good demand! ;)
