The following were featured in Games for Windows magazine as the best free games:

These were under Adventurer's Island- Save the [blank]. Save the world:

Chicken vs. Road-
Quote from: Games For WindowsClucksworth is finally ready to see the world. The only thing in his way: the road. This goofy but short graphic adventure will make you laugh- and probably hum "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" for days.

Ben Jordan: Paranormal Investigator-
Quote from: Games For WindowsCollege grad Ben Jordan turns to the paranormal to earn a buck in this Sierra-style graphic adventure. His first mission: discover the secret of the Skunk-Ape, a Bigfoot that got its name "because of its horrible smell, described as a mixture of moldy cheese, rotten eggs, and dung." Yum.

Heartland Deluxe-
Quote from: Games For WindowsGood writing plus hand-drawn illustrations equals a great (but short) adventure game.

No-Action Jackson-
Quote from: Games For WindowsNo-Action Jackson instantly recalls the classic LucasArts adventure Day of the Tentacle, and it's hero is someone we can actually relate to: a meek kid who still dreams of reliving his days as a feared dungeon master.

This was under Action Trip- Side-Scrollers and Blast-Em-Ups:

A Game with a Kitty: Darkside Adventures-
Quote from: Games For WindowsHe's short, hairy, and loves bashing bad guys in 2D. Sorry, Mario- in a game inspired by classic side-scrolling advetures, this kitty shoots stars and kicks koala butt.

This was under Brain Benders- Guaranteed to mess with your synapses:

What Linus Bruckman Sees When His Eyes Are Closed-
Quote from: Games For WindowsCan the name of this game be any longer? This crazy-good adventure game is just plain crazy. The top half of the screen follows a samurai in feudal Japan; a spacey comedy graphic adventure unfolds in the bottom. Your brain will hurt, so factor in the cost of aspirin.

This was under Tributes and Remakes- Old classics handled with care:

Maniac Mansion Deluxe-
Quote from: Games For WindowsRemember the salad days of PC gaming, when there were graphic adventures as far as the eye could see, and LucasArts actually did something besides churn out Star Wars stuff? A group of devoted fans remembers, too, and has remade one of the greatest (and funniest) games ever.

King's Quest III-
Quote from: Games For WindowsThe latest Sierra fan tribute: A 256-color remake of Roberta Williams' King's Quest III: To Heir Is Human. The story centers on a medieval slave named Gwydion who frantically seeks to escape the evil wizard who lords over him. This new version implements a point-and-click interface identical to Sierra's later graphic adventures, as well as full voice acting and some quirky new bits of humor. And if you missed em' check out the KQI and KQII remakes at www.agsinteractive.com.

Congrats!  :)

Deja vu?

Vince doesn't mention that magazine name, but the catagories and reviews look the same.

I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Gregjazz

Vince was talking about that 101 Free Games webpage. These are in that Windows magazine...

Indeed. Still funky, tho.

Thanks, R4L :)

EDIT: Ah, here's why it's familiar. ;)
Steam: LimpingFish
PSN: LFishRoller
XB: TheActualLimpingFish
Spotify: LimpingFish

Blackthorne

That's pretty neat.Ã,  We also got a full review in another issue.Ã,  Always fun to be featured for your work - and we're in amazing company there.Ã,  There are some really impressive games on that list.

Woah I didn't know Vince already put it up lol. I guess I should be more frank in times like this.

Vince was taking about 1up, the gaming blog arm of Ziff Davis media, their PC games mag being Games for Windows.
Just another example of how games mags are obsolete ;) Even their own content gets on the internet first.

Vince Twelve

What scotch said.

Still, I had no idea that this was in a printed magazine, too.  Very cool.  Thanks for the heads up, R4L!

Seems like no one noticed this, but...

Scroll down, and you'll probably notice a picture and game name familiar to you... well, and a real name not familiar to you.
