Hey there guys ^_^
I happened to be playing around with shoutcast while in #ags, and I discovered (well I knew it already in some cases) that many people have stations of their own. However, these stations are often poorly attended, rarely run and not established except within a person's circle of aquaintances. That is not to say they're not excellent, I throughly enjoy listening to other people's musical playlists, especially if they add commentary to them (a la Obi Leo) or if haven't heard of them before (a la DasJoe's awesome German Indie). So, I happened to comment that I wished there was a way for other people to access my server, which I rarely am able to use, to provide music, and keep people interested when I'm away... And Gal pointed out that I could.. So earlier today I tested it with Obi and now with Das Joe as I speak. I figured this could actually be a permanent thing; I have a fixed IP, and I leave my computer on so people can see my Away messages anyway ^_^ So, I asked a couple of awesome people in #ags if they'd like to help, and I ask you all now if you'd like to contribute some time... All's you need is a recent version of winamp, a relatively well-labelled and interesting mp3 connection, and the ability to choose a playlist to be put on at a certain time. I already have a few folks willing to help me out, with a myriad of different tastes and nationalities, and I think this could easily attain the status of 'awesome'. I obviously don't want this to become too high profile, but I'd kinda like to give it a name and website... so, uh, what do you thing would be good? So far, I have the following suggestions from people:
Radio AGS (since this unofficial, I don't really want to use that)
Adventure Radio
[Ad|Rad]
K.B.P.S. as in (kb/s)
Radio Free Tommorow
Alphonics
Radio Where's Alky?
Radio New International
[Radio] International Adventure Audio (RIAA ^_^)
Anyhow, anyone got anything? Or opinions? Yes, I know this isn't technically legal, but disclaimers can do wonders, and there are literally thousands of stations out there as far as I know. And it's purely not for profit; it simply aims to broaded musical horizons of adventure gamers (it's practically a charity). I remember 'Gal telling me to download Catch 22 (now my favourite band ^_^), getting hotspot excited by sending him a skateboard song and recieving pro audio tracks by Trapezoid, Haddas and Iqu (all AGS users). So I think this could be a good thing. And maybe somebody can do an AGS info/news show eventually? The internet is expanding, and with many AGS users having DSL or better (I now have Cable, after years of complaining ^_^) we can do far more stuff. And maybe even still make games... ^_^
I have nothing to say except that you used ^_^ six times in that post.
SIX FRIGGIN TIMES?!??!?!?!?!
Disclaimer: :P
If someone can help me navigate past my overzealous firewall I can share my slightly fogey-ish selection with th'world, certainly.
Sounds cool. I like the [Ad|Rad]. It looks funky.
As for music, I don't know if anyone would be interested in my music collection. Seeing as I pinch my dad's old LPs. My music tastes are several decades old. Lol.
Yeah. Um, look at my music icon. I can help. However, sometimes I'm a busy, busy man.
If I can have an hour slot then I'm all for it.
:=
And if Larry can have one too...
Play Lemon Demon's songs in the radio and I will listen to it.
(Hey, Alky, you're supposed to PM me the stuff about my slot, kthx).
I think it's an awesome idea. I wouldn't mind doing a show, though you'd have to put up with my bizzare collection of comedy tracks.
Yes, it'd be awesome with ags radio!
Sounds pretty cool. Make sure one of you remembners to play the AGS operas/shows.
Oooh, maybe AGS game reviews.
Y'know. Just to justify calling AGS Radio.

Play Lemon Demon's songs in the radio and I will listen to it.
Yes. Do that.
I could probably do a weekly slot using the AGS Operas, some AGS Game themes, and songs from "The Singing Game" and stuff like that.
It could be called "RTF's Super Happy Fun AGS-Releated Hour of Fun!" (or the next best offer := )
Radio is UP UP UP.
I'm currently DJing, and Petteri is up next.
Temporary URL, as Alky's shoutcast server appears to be dead:
RADIO! (http://hx.bounceme.net:8000/)
Listen, please.
We will love you for EVER.
Hurray! This is awesome!
Ooo... I'm quite liking this! Some songs like "In der ÿberzahl" (what does that mean, anyway? What language is it?) I would never listen to on my own, but I quite like them.
That's dasjoe's playlist on at the moment. I'm assuming those are German songs.
My "show", ThePetShop, was on today and it went fine. At first I had only an hour long playlist, but I kept going on longer. Listener peak was as high as 6! I'm planning to play more music tomorrow, people seemed to like my playlist. So look forward to ThePetShop tomorrow, somewhere around 17:00 - 18:00 GMT most likely.
It's working quite nice I think. Maybe we just need more people to play their playlist so that one people don't have to play all the time.
I get an error loading this link? It loads the page but the applet fails? I have the newest winamp and java ???
Stream IRC: http://www.shoutcast.com/chat.phtml?dc=%23adradio
And what about this link what is this one for it dosnt work either... (atleast for me)
Stream URL: http://hx.bounceme.net:8000/hx.bounceme.net
It says "Invalid resource" when clicked...
Just click 'listen', not 'stream URL'...
Also, new URL.

(omgwtflol 400th post. Imagine a picture of me, moving).
Tune in tomorrow at 19:00 GMT for The Classic Rock hour.
Ooops silly me sorry Highway Works great now! So what time are the ags operas, is there a program schedule? :D
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Yay classic Rock Vel 8)
This is teh awesome and I am teh listening right teh now teh!
You guys should record audio of yourself saying typical DJ stuff, such as:
"You are listening to AGS Radio."
When I get broadband I want to host a talk show called Bluecup
Well, the DJs who have access to a microphone can do some commentary.
Just like LGM did tonight.
I think.
Damn TALK TO US!!!111!!!
Less music, more human contact.
Well apparently I've committed myself to doing a daily show at 00:00 GMT. Join me for Grundislav's Midnight Madness!!
If the radio worked for me, I would totally be there ;)
I could do a weekly slot. I have the spare time, and I have the motivation. My show could consist of many of the AGS Operas and Theme songs (if that hasn't been taken already.) I'd also do that one audio thing I mentioned :=
My best weekday times would be probably be between 17:00 and 18:00 PST. That's pretty early for most of you, so if I were to have a slot, it would have to be on the weekends.
Probably some point between 11:00 and 12:00.
We'll see what's best, though. :)
Just popped in to say that the radio is on... we have temporary server once again because Alky's server is down. So to listen to 'The Pet Shop', http://hx.bounceme.net:8000 !!
Yet another server change... I think we should stop doing this :P
Clicketh! (http://213.199.77.61:8000)
Damn fascists!
banning me without reason._.
And we're back to http://hx.bounceme.net:8000/ ...
We could run this on my server. It has plenty of bandwidth, which would mean it can support more listeners than dasjoe's - I haven't actually had time to listen to a show on that yet, but it seems to be his own PC on his home connection, since it's on No-IP. Worth it, do you think?
Yeah, that would be much better since the limit is now 12.
But for that to actually be worth something, we have to at least be able to top that 12 listener cap.
And sadly, we usually have around 5 listeners.
5.
That's insane.
People, dump your playlist.
Forget your own music.
Listen to our shows.
You know we play far better music than what you listen to.
Well, my point is: you can also have 5 listeners or for that matter 12 listeners at 96 or 128 kbps instead of 24.
That sounds reasonable, but doesn't that also depend on the broadcaster's upload rate?
Certainly does. If the broadcaster only has dialup, this won't make a difference at all, but surely not all of them do...
Pacman! THE RADIO EXPERIENCE!!
w00t! AGS radio! this is much cooler than anything the bbc ever came up with.
Woop, listen up.
Radio is moving (thanks Fuzzpilz!) to http://bicycle-for-slugs.org:8000/ .
This time it will be permanant.
More listeners, higher quality.
Rock.
Very nice.
This 'I've got some falling to do' is very faint.
EDIT:
Then it was fixed...
...
Then a general error occured...
Now it isn't.
...Eh.
EDIT: 20 bucks says Petteri is either drunk, high on crack, or both.
Let the betting commence!
Now everything is fine! ;D
(Please note that the server may be down for a couple of minutes while the DJs switch. Which is what just happened, I assume).
I hope someone heard me saying piratey things!
EDIT: Okay, so I was just testing if could get speech and music working on at the same time, but alas, I coudln't.
Like I already said on irc, good job DJ-ing Vel, Grundislav and Pete yesterday, I really enjoyed it.
You (adradio DJ's) should create a schedule (sp) and post it in this thread so that we know when there are adradio shows.
Thing is, we usually just ask 'who wants to be next?' on IRC :P
But! We have a forum for slot booking and things, so you can get a sneak peek what might be coming the next day or so. So for more information... check http://adradio.agagames.com/
Yes, "in der überzahl" is a german song, by one of the best german alterenative bands, tocotronic.
according to my dictionary in der überzahl means either majority, outnumbered or numerical superiority (same as outnumbered).
i'm currently (as nobody wants the server) playing the tocotronic discography :)
i've added some features to the bot in the last days, just type .help to see some available commands.
i'll add a .tell command soon, and i have to get rid of these crazy symbols some streamtitles get..
Keep in mind that not all Agsers have high speed internet conections (I'm on dial-up myself), so we can't enjoy Adradio if the bitrate is too high (10 sec buffering, 3 sec listening).
forgot that. i'll set it to 40 mono..
sorry...
Wow. german music that doesn't suck. I am enlightened...
Sounds pretty cool. After going through this thread and testing all those links, the last one obviously worked. Well the page is saying that the server is currently down. I guess I'll have to try later.
Still says it's down. Are the DJ's still being switched? :=
It's down because nobody's broadcasting, though I was until perhaps half an hour before you posted.
(edit: and now it's up.)
Don't forget the classic rock hour tomorrow at 19:00GMT - Just want you to know that as long as ADRadio is present, the classic rock hour will be also.
I think I could sometime play a Sonata Arctica hour, as I have nearly two hours of their music on my computer, and I have a broadband that I occasionally get connected to my computer. I could ofcource rip some other heavy music too... or play CDs? Anywaayy... I'll look into this.
Is anyone still using this?
nope, it died..
Its a pity it did. I used it for a while, and it was nice. Maybe the Inventory Radio can make up for some of it, even if it is just game music (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=17828.0)
Nooo...!
I'm using it. I have my show... I even have a couple of listeners, atleast for half of the show or something... It's just the attitude "Crap, Nightwish, not listening", "Crap, Metallica, not listening" etc... There would be listernes, if there wouldn't be people who close the radio the second the DJ plays a song of an artist they have prejudice(sp?) towards...
I often DJ on the server, but at odd times, while I can and just post the link onto those "lovely" people at #ags
I'd listen to your show, but you're never DJing when I'm on #ags...
He doesn't DJ so much as belch fire and talk about fish.
Just to drag this thread back up...
I try to listen, but there never seems to be anything running these days. Are there still people (besides Obi) trying to play stuff?
I think there are occasionally a few people DJing, but there's no regular schedule or anything. You have to be in #ags when somebody decides to DJ in order to hear about it.
