Hi everybody.

Just been thinking ( A dangerous thing to do I know! ) ;D
But if I want to put a music track to my game from a CD I already have and ( as far as I know no one can copy it from my game files ) share my game with you good people.
Is that still breaking copyright rules ?

It's a beautiful piece of ENYA work and would love to have it in my game.

Like I said it's just somethi'n that I'm not totaly sure about and would like some clarification.

Thanks.
Jay.

Blackthorne

Yep.  It is.  It is breaking copyright rules.

S**T.
I kind of guessed it would be. :(
But thanks for clearing that up for me.

Hell. I would love to use some of her (ENYA) music.
I must get in touch with her somehow and ask if I can use her music.

Thanks.
Jay.

Yes it is copyright infringement, though alot of companies are lax about it unless you gain ALOT of popularity, as in if everybody knows it (what you've made that is), chances are you'll get a message from the lawyers, it's illegal no matter how you cut it, but as long as you're not making a commercial game, and your giving credit where credit is due, often times they just look the other way.

Don't screw with LucasArts though, they're hardasses.

this is a guy. hes drowning as you can see. i pushed him off the boat and into the ocean because he was bothering me. thats the kind of person i am.

It is illegal, as it's been mentioned previously. However in all honesty, I don't think anyone will bother. There have been other games which used copyrighted material without any problems really. It does depend if your game will wield 100,000 downloads or 1000 though...

Well 9 out of 10 LA fangames get C&D order so it's a safe assumtion that they're hardasses, they don't seem to pay attention to Zak McKrakken though?

They only seem to care about their "active" enterprises, i.e. Indiana Jones, Star Wars and, for some reason, Monkey Island. Not Zak, Loom and Maniac.

Now THIS is suspicious.

I remember Jim jokingly saying in a press release that they wouldn't even consider a new Monkey Island project until 2015.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!
