might have been a boring game but atleast we won

buloght

it was definitely not a boring game.

Good to see the Windies notch up a win over a decent side, although missing 2 players that are "injured" (but more likely stood down with their recent drug scandle) They should end up top of their group.

It's not a great time zone for me, and I don't think it's on free to air TV until the super 8's, So I won't get to see much more than highlights, maybe see a bit in mornings before work, and on weekends.

Australia play Scotland today (after midnight for me) I think Scotland will need a lot of luck to win

I'm Halfway thru my own local semi final at the moment (played over 2 Saturdays) we're 8/163 after the first day (75 overs, we'll keep batting til we're all out) sounds like a low score but the ground is massive and the grass is quite thick so really hard to get boundaries only 3 fours for the match, so that's 151 of the runs actually run. I'm a bowler, so I'm looking forward to defending our total on sat, and taking a few heads off along the way. We have the best bowling attack in the grade by far, so the other team know it's going to be tough to get the runs.

canada is in again this year. i remember they were in the guiness book of records for the lowest score in cricket word cup. something like 54 i think (against scotland if i remember correctly. either that or they had beaten scottland to get in there)

There have been some real hidings by South Africa, Sri Lanka & Australia, but more interestingly there have been some amazing upsets by Ireland & Bangladesh

Ireland tied with Zimbabwe which is a very rare occurrence to finish on the same score

Bangladesh beat India which will make it tough for India probably having to beat Sri Lanka to go thru to the next round

And Ireland Just beat Pakistan, which puts them thru to the next round, which means West Indies just have to beat Ireland or Zimbabwe to go thru. Pakistan (who were a decent chance of winning the world cup) are probably already out.

It's going to be interesting to see who makes the Super 8's but It's still going to be tough to pick a winner, probably out of WI, SA, AUS, SRI, NZ, ENG

My Team made the Grand Final yesterday, so I've got a week of stressing out, excitement and anticipation.
I took 3 wickets, 1 catch and 1 runout. The GF is played over Sat and Sun next weekend, can't wait

i guess all the irish were just in too good a spirits cuz of st patricks day (which im sure they started celebrating last week and will celibrate till next week)

R.I.P Bob Woolmer

Edit: I've just seen the India Vs Bermuda score (413 for 5 with Dravid hitting the last ball for 6), great innings for india with the ( now cult figure) Dwain Leverock's 10 overs going for 96! It looks at the moment that Australia and India are the teams to watch, bearing in mind the teams they are playing are new to the competition.

P.S Good luck Timosity, AGS is behind you!

Hey, anyone wanna tell me some cricket terminology? I'm going to some cricket team party next weeks friday (my godfather play in their team and has birthday). Just some nitpicking to talk about, like, what's with the pipesystem if there's no sink on them, or why have a paddle if you don't have a canoe :)

indeed

That's the closest I can think of having seen of dying of a broken heart. :(

About being Pakistani cricket players now...heh...they were having this huge publicity promo thing with the whole line-up posing in billboards all over. Now everytime someone sees them, they cringe. Guess I'll start rooting for Bangladesh now :P.

Bob Woolmer is a legend. It is sad. And now inzamam ul-haq quits captaincy, well after pakistani supporters shouted that the captain and coach must be killed (that's what papers say) he must fear for his life after Bob's sudden death. It's just a sport, not a religion. This is all screwed up.

BTW, goodluck tomisity.

Here's a few for you:
A 'Slip' is a fielding position slightly to the right/left of the wicketkeeper.
'Hazzat?' is an appeal a bowler can make if he thinks the batsman is out, this is a shortened and more common way of saying 'How was that?'.
A bouncer is a type of ball where the ball rises much more than normally, hence the name.
A Yorker is when the ball is bowled closer to the batsman than normal (around the foot).
A googly spins the other way, from off to leg, into a right-handed batsman.
The slider (a straight ball delivered from the front of the hand) is to be compared with the zooter (a straight ball delivered out of the back of the hand).

More cricket terms can be found here on Wikipedia, here.

whats up with the irish guy who was killed sheesh. people are taking their sport a little too serious

Jon

New Zealand have just finished their innings against Canada, they posted their highest ever score - 363-5 (top scorers were Lou Vincent with 101, Stephen Fleming hitting 66, and Brendon McCullum smashed the fastest ever World Cup fifty, off just 20 balls!).
Canada now have just started their innings and are steaming, with 98-1 off 15 overs.

thats what i call a good start

Timosity

There's going to be a lot of pressure on India to beat Sri Lanka, That could be one interesting match, with India having to win to stay in the tournament and Sri Lanka in really good form. (assuming Bermuda don't beat Bangladesh)

England have to beat Kenya to stay in, they should, but Kenya aren't the worst team.

Australia v South Africa should be a really good match, both teams in good form, but yet to play a tough team eg. each other. both teams are already thru, but the winner will carry 2 extra points

Woolmer's death was apparently a strangling, so it's definitely now a murder investigation, very sad news

Congrats on Ireland for making it thru, but I think that's as far as it will go

Thanks Jon & bulghart, less than 18hrs till the start of my Grand Final, a couple of beers might calm the nerves

BOB WOOLMER MURDERED!!!!

It's a shame as he was a nice bloke, apparently it was one of his closest friends.

I think that England should get through fine, although Kenya can be very good.
