Title: Curse of Monkey Island on a mac...?
Post by: vict0r on Thu 23/08/2007 19:01:25
Hi there,

I'm sitting here with my macbook and ye old copy of CMI and ScummVM for mac. I'm not sure how ScummVM works, but am I able to install CMI into ScummVM in any way? Because it obviously won't work installing it on the mac.

Thanks

For scummvm to work you just need the appropriate data files from the game copied to a folder. Here (http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Datafiles#Curse_of_Monkey_Island.2C_The) are the required CMI ones. Are they not available to be copied off the cd?

Hmm... Yay! Thank alot! :)  I haven't used ScummVM before, and google didn't give me much. At least not when I searched what I did. But thanks! :)

On the oppiiste issue, I picked up  mac copies of Sam and Max as well as MMDotT and using ScummVM, plus a side program to grab the data, got them to work on my pc. WOOHOO!

Nice!

But I met another issue! On the first disc there are the files COMI.LA0, COMI.LA1 and the resource folder. But on the second disc there are another COMI.LA0 and another resource folder. The two folders do not contain the same files though.

How to proceed?

This (http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/The_Curse_of_Monkey_Island) might help. :)

I presume you only need the COMI.LA* files from the first disc. Since both RESOURCE folders have different files, just combine them into one folder.

Hmm... Sounds logical. There were a COMI.LA2 on the second disc though, but I'll just add that one too.

But how do I actually use it in ScummVM?

Sorry for all the noob questions!

Download and run ScummVM. Click "ADD GAME", and point it to the folder you have the CMI files in. It will automatically determine what game it is, and give you various options to set. Click OK. The game will then be listed in the main window. Either double-click its name, or highlight it and click RUN GAME.

Edit: Make sure it's the latest stable build of ScummVM for the Mac (0.10.0, I think.)
