Here's another one :

The Pope went to heaven, and St. Peter asked him who he was. The Pope angrily responded he was the Pope, didn't St. Peter recognize him?
SNIP...
"Guys, you still remember the little fishing society I founded some 2000 years ago? It still exists!"

That joke is hardly internally consistent... er, surely Peter was part of the "fishing society" and if it wasn't a big deal why would he be guarding the gates of heaven?

Why is this hardly consistent?
Peter went up to heaven some time after Jesus, and being one of his buddies, he got the job at the gates.
Then, during the course of 2000 years, the fishing club became a huge religion with an institution called "pope", but no one in heaven knows or cares. Which is the whole point of the joke.
I can't see any inconsistency at all, sorry.

How about this then. Peter is one of Jesus' mates, yet when he gets to the kingdom of eternal bliss and rest, the poor bugger still has to work.
