Well, I just love those games, so wicked original so movie parodies so perfect basically my favourite is DiscNoir but the rest rock the s&* out of me too. Rincewind is just one funny game character. The first game of the series is damn cult, just look at death with the glasses an all that. What can I say, just play them even now they still look awesome.

Yes, indeed. I always found the first Discworld game to be the weakest, though. Not bad, but just not up to the level of brilliance of Discworld 2 and Noir. Do read the books as well, though, if you haven't already. As much as I love and cherish the games, the books are a whole different story. Terry Pratchett is the only author who I own over 20 books by and laughed myself crazy over almost every single one of them.
Only played Noir, but it's by far one of my favorite adventure games.
I played Noir on a playstation because of having a computer older than time itself and it's the only game to have ever given me a blue screen of death on a console. Some kind of memory error.
...But aside from that, I loved it. I'm playing Discworld 1 at the moment, and loving it. Eric Idle and Tony Robinson? I'm there!
If anyone doesn't know what's going on in this thread, you're missing out on a brilliant series of books.
Ooh, I remember playing Discworld I from way, way ago... I seem to haven't stored most of my childhood memories, but I can still remember how you had to get the chest down in order to acquire the bananas... and I remember searching desperatly for a walkthrough for Disworld II because I couldn't solve the boomerang puzzle (seriously, who thought THAT up?)... and DiscNoir... *sigh*
Any ideas how to get DiscNoir running on Windows XP? Will DosBox do any good?
I don't really remember playing any of the discworld games. I mostly remember listening to them. I tried to play Noir on 3 occasions. First being when I first got it and I got stuck in an area that after consulting a walkthrough seemed to be a bug in the game and I was walking dead. Second and Third times I just couldn't take it. So slow! I'd like to watch a Play Through of Noir instead of actually play it I think.
However I quite enjoy the books so, hooray for that!

I played Noir recently with Microsoft Virtual PC (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=04D26402-3199-48A3-AFA2-2DC0B40A73B6&displaylang=en) (which seems to be totally free now, whee) running Windows 98, and it ran just fine. I don't think it's possible to get it to run flawlessly on XP though.
Disc 1 is my favorite. Potentially my second or third favorite adventure of all time.
I like how both makes me laugh and think at the same time, while still having some ripping good action.
I still have the first one. I didn't play Noir or part 2, but I can say that I also felt like it was too slow. Not bad though, and very funny.

Ive been recently trying to get the sound to work on the 2nd one but it just won't work. I have tried dos box and vdm and nothing seems to get the sound to work. Is it because I downloaded the version off of underdogs?
Am I a rare creature, then, to be able to play Noir in XP flawlessly?
In my mind, the series is very faithful to the books, and manages to recreate the Discworld that Pratchett describes us in prose, but as adventure games they got better with each game - meaning, Discworld 1 was, I felt, rather weak as an adventure game, though the dialogs were brilliance.

Mind you, it's supposed to happen at the same time as "Guards! Guards!", a sort of "what if Rincewind were the good guy in Guards! instead of Vimes, but as of Sourcery Rincewind had been cast into the Dungeon Dimensions! So he wouldn't have even witnessed the dragon.

I've recently re-read Thud! again, thus completing my 3rd run of the entire Discworld series by release order. Now to read Wee Free Men 1 and 2 and Science of the Discworld! Just wish I could get my hands on The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents. Ah well, at least I have Good Omens, joy!
