Hi everyone. I wanted to share a quick bit o' personal news. I don't often chat about personal stuff on here but I'd thought this was important enough to share.
But first, a quick bit o' history. Some of you know that in March of 07, while at the Games Developer Congerence in San Francisco, I met an English gal named Janet. We kept in touch, and when I visited London a bit later we arranged to meet up again. Thus was the start of an romance that crossed the ocean and sustained itself on lots of plane tickets, air miles, text messages and skype webcam chats. No way I was going to give up a girl who is 10x nerdier than I am.
To make a long story short, during her recent visit here we got engaged! She's agreed to leave her UK homeland behind and shack up here in NYC with me. We haven't decided entirely how we're doing the wedding thing yet, since there is a ton of red tape involved in just getting the fiancee visa worked out. Most likely we'll have a small ceremony for just the family, and then throw a big ole celebration party on each continent once everything is sorted. You britfolk are invited, whenever that might be!
Some of you have actually met Janet or listened to me talk about her ad nasuem. Either way, here is a picture of us boozing it up at GDC last March.

Anyway, that's it really. Just wanted to share!
Congratulations!
I'll see you at the party ;)
Congrats! I'm expecting a Doctor Who themed party!
Congrats Dave! IS there a chance you can put a webcam in the place where the ceremony is going to take part, so we can assist? :)
WOW!
Congrats Dave! All the best! May the little ones follow pretty soon, so that you know the problems we family men are having (<-this last one doesn't sound exactly like a blessing! ;D ;D ;D only kidding of course)
Yay! Everyone going to Weddittens!
Mazeltov!
Seems those game developers get all the ladies. Congrats!
^haha. Anyway, good for you mate, brilliant in fact. You're one fo the lucky, have a nice wedding. Also, if there's shrimps, I'm coming to England for a "trip" too ;)
Good job, Dave.
Of course, with that Manhattan apartment you've got, I would also move in with you.
Congrats, Dave!!! What a sweet story. I'd seen Janet in pictures you posted from the GDC and wondered who she was. I can somehow relate to the long-distance-relationship thing since my girlfriend comes from Italy and moved here to Denmark after a year of us travelling back and forth (though not cross-Atlantic). We met in equally geeky surroundings, working as game testers in Vancouver.
The best of luck to the both of you!
DON'T DO IT!!!
Just kidding! Congrats buddy! I wish you and the soon-to-be-missus all the best.
I have been the Best Man at three weddings in the last 4 years so if your best man needs some advice I'm happy to offer it up. Always the best man, never the man :)
Congratulations again.
Thanks everyone! I also remembered that when I said "visited London later" it really meant "left Brittens early to meet her." So for those of you at Brittens 07 who wondered why I left early, that was why. :)
Ten times more nerdy? Than Dave!? And she's English!?
Congrats, Dave. I know many, many of us AGSers are jealous of yo' fine lady.
Congratulations Dave! Make sure you make the most of leaving the toilet seat up while you still can!
:D
You got engaged and then took her to a comic book convention?

YOU ROGUE YOU!
Holy cow! Congratulations Dave!
And as someone who has recently completed the months of paperwork and paid the $1000 dollars during multiple trips to the local US consulate for the privilege of importing his foreigner wife, my condolences.
Way to go Dave :D this is great news.
I'm not sure though if your nerdiness assessment is that accurate after meeting with you guys at New Years. One of you is definitely nerdier than the other, that is certain. You will have to wait until after marriage to find out though, when I hear all this stuff comes out into the open. :P
Nice picture by the way, but come on, why not move in a littel closer? you're engaged! :D

I thought you just wanted to spend some quality bus station time with me. My heart is broken. :(
Congratulations! :'(
I was wondering when you were going to do it! :p Congratulations Dave.
When you were talking about it a month ago, I wasnt sure if it was just a bit of alcohol fuelled rambling, but you have done the good thing.
I hope all goes well for you, and will definitaly be attending a party.
I don't know you very well but I just want to wish you all the best! You seem like a lovely couple!
Take care! ;)
At least you teached her that men should drink beer and women wine. ;D
See first pic then second to know what I mean.
Anyway, I sometimes check Wadjet eye site, but anyway I wish you luck and small Dave's.

D'aww, what a pair of sweethearts! MEGA-CONGRATS!
I know I don't comment here much anymore but I still keep an eye on you folk, and especially those that were around when I was spending my life on here, so I'm very tickled to hear this good news, Dave. You were always there being cool around the place and you probably hellped me a -tonne- as far as tech knowledge goes. I am happy that you're happy.
Dave is the definition of cool.

Thanks Ivy, Kinoks, Dualnames, et all!
