I mean, really..... really like Fountain Pens. So much that an obsession to find an online forum to talk about the world that is Ink.
Well, hop on over to the Supply Closet Unlocked. http://www.livejournal.com/community/goldstars/
Here's a sample of their love for their pens:
"Nice to find a community where there's an appreciation for fountain pens, among other items.
I own a 1995 edition Waterman, a Cross, a vintage Parker (with the first of the rubber ink bladders, it was my great grandmother's pen), a newer Parker and a 2001 edition Waterman."
...freaks. But when they find out that there is an uprising in webpage hits from a certain page (here) they may make a post about these freaks who cant let go of 1990's adventures... which are sooo dead.
You mock fountain pens??!! May a conflagarations of falling cows smite ye! I myself have a monteblanc, cross and a parker!
Well...to each their own, like you said, there are freaks who are crazy about fountain pens, and then freaks that are crazy about 90's adventure games.
My dad would love that club. He has an assortment of expensive fountain pens in his office.
Maybe I'll show him that link. I'm sure he'd love to share his excitement with the world. :P
Interesting ...
I suppose it's better than an obsession with drugs and violence or something equally "bad".
I do enjoy a fountain pen ... just not quite this much.
But lots of Drugs have addictive qualities, whereas Fountain pens.... don't, and the youth of today (Pesky Brats) are rebelling in taking drugs but "Oooh! Fountain Pens! Rebellious!".
I did read something about a big international Biro club somewhere, an every year they met up and traded or sold their pens to each other.
My girlfriend loves fountain pens... (I can't use them easily because I'm left handed.)
Thanks! I'll point her at that site.

I too am left handed ...
I remember when I was in 6th grade and we were finally allowed to use pens (we weren't in elementary school) it was about the time when erasable ink came on the scene ... well I couldn't use the pens 'cause it would just smear ALL over the place. I was so jealous, I resented being left handed for a bit ... but just a bit!
I've started asking my family members and friends how they feel about fountain pens and, suprisingly enough, quite a few of them really like them! How odd is this ...
I have never used a fountain pen in my life, how does it compare to a normal fine tip pen?

Me too! Yay!

Yep, I was in grade 4 when we were allowed to go for our "pen licences". I was the first one in my grade to get one ^_^ Smearing bothers me too but not so much as others because I've got a weird writing style. -I- don't think it's weird, and I don't do it on purpose, but everyone gawks at me when I write...

Fountain pens generally allow for neater and smoother handwriting than scratchy ballpoints and pencils. I think "fluid" is the word.

I didn't know that fountain pens are hard to use for lefthanders...how odd. I seem to remember a lefthanded friend who used to write with a fountain pen, better than me. Maybe he had a lot of practice. You would think that some inventive mind would have come up with a lefthanded fountain pen.
Why don't you start Writing from Right to left, Show the Fountain Pen you won't be Defeated! I've never used a Fountain Pen and probably never will, my handwiting's terrible as it is, so I'd probably manage to either ruin my message or break the pen.
Alright, so it was a while ago back in Middleschool and they had this contest for the cover of our School Yearbook (a flimsey thin cardboard paphlette which, dependin on wheither it has a million signatures on it or not, determines if your cool......or not.) Anyway, so I thought that I would take the highroad with my cover and draw somthing to idolize the high academics of our school. So I took a peice of paper and drew a scroll type thing on it with a "quill" type pen on it writing the words "The Pen is Mighter than the Sword". My flaw, is the way I organized the words. I sent it in and later recieved word from a few students in the yearkbook commity that I almost caused their teacher to faint. I said, "What? What are you talking about?!?" Aparrently, I hadn't noticed that I put the words "pen" and "is" a little too close together. ....needless to say, they didn't use my entree. Instead it was a cover a girl did with a bunch of stupid smilie faces on it. Go figure. Anyway, got me thinking. Maybe the penis IS mighter than the sword. Sure, words are powerful and stuff, but I'd choose sex over a book any day.
that may well be true but would you agree to Test? ;)
Being a lefty, I spent most of my youth with black palms from all the lead and ink we used in school.
Funny story, the priest in my highschool saw me writing with my left hand one day and tried to force me to use my right, like, literally. He grabbed my hand and tried to make me do it. What an ass.
That's because being left-handed is unholy, obviously.
Yeah.
I guess I'm the devil.
FEAR ME!
