Because I need you to blow up my town!

For an interesting short, b-movie style film project. I don't think I've ever met anyone that knows how to use AfterEffects, so this is probably a long shot. But if you're interested do let me know.

Relavitley simple stuff like lasers and so forth, but also really really complex stuff too if you know how to do it ;) These things can be written in!!1

The Anarchy Pictures website is coming back soon, but its no longer anarchy pictures.

I'm sure scotchy poo knows how to do something like that in 3DS Max.. :-p If not, try asking around at http://www.renderosity.com in some of the forums.

I futzed a lot with After Effects back in college.  Of course, this was about 6 years ago so my knowledge is woefully out of date.

what I like doing in after effects is the motion control stuff.. like if you have a shaky camera and you want to place something in the shot that does not exist, you can do all these tricks so that it can follow the movement of the camera and the angle tilt. it's pretty fun.

Lasers, though? I heard it was easier to make in photoshop, frame by frame... maybe I'm wrong, though :P

I think that's what you do, to tell you the truth. Adobe is more for tracing over images and adding certain elements and just playing with the video. But if you want to do "raytracing" and inserting actual animations and shite into the film, you usually have t o do it frame by frame in photoshop..

Not sure, though.. Haven't had much (any) experience with that.

Adding lasers etc is usually much easier in after effects because the tweening capabilities and since you can simply add it on top of the moviefile without splitting it up into seperate frames and edit.

The ways to do it differs quite much from how you'd do it in PS like programs though so it's often confusing to newcomers.

no you can do lasers and stuff in after effects

you can do a lot in it

no lasers in here but a lot of stuff you might find interesting and that might kick you in the right direction

I used after effects for a little while and i made a laser first thing, so it's in there, have you looked in the documentation?

I think AJA has used AfterEffects to do some nice looking lightsabers for his Star Wars fan movie. Also, my friend has AfterEffects but we never needed it in our film projects and now he is in army.

Shhh, Petteri, Shhh!! :)

-EDIT-

Well, lasers are fairly simple to do. There's a "beam" effect in after effects but it looks really crappy so I'd probably use the same technique as with lightsabers.

Yay interesting stuff, thanks! Netmonkey, what you spoke of is also exactly what I need. Do you need to put the shakes in first (actually on film), or can they be added later?
