Actually, GMail just took 4 of my invites away, so I'm emailing them bout it right now.

I got 6 invites.  I don't think any of my friends would be interested, so I'm letting you all have them.

kingsized, I don't think so - it's still in beta.

auhsor

Yeah, I get the feeling that it is still invites only, but I think that it will soon be going public.

Al_Ninio

I believe what kingsized meant was that the fact that Google still incorporates the invitation system is silly, as anyone can get an invitation now, and it's almost as if it is already open to the public.
(Correct me if I'm wrong...)

I have to say, this whole thing is really rather amusing.

Seriously, who actually needs a gmail account?

Obviously -- many people are going to think that, which means Google is making a shitload load of money on the ads.

Hotmail, Yahoo, and every other free email provider with any kind of large userbase make a shitload on ads too. However, they don't provide 1gb of storage.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

auhsor

Well they soon will be providing alot more, but I think you still have to pay to have storage as high as Gmail has. And I'm not gonna send any money for hotmail.

Yahoo and Hotmail have very distasteful ads in my opinion.Ã,  The difference with Google is that they sell a larger quantity of ads, and only users who search (or email) relevant text will see those ads.Ã,  Ã,

Yahoo and Hotmail sell few ads, but the ones they do are very prominent on the page (mostly big ugly banners)Ã,  and cost alot more to buy.Ã,  That's why you only see ads for Ford, Best Buy, movies, etc.Ã,  Small businesses and organizations can't afford ads for Yahoo or MSN email.

Google actually lets smaller businesses adverstise and they don't bombard you with ugly pictures.Ã,  That's why I prefer it, in addition to its innovative features.Ã,

[Not to mention Yahoo and MSN upgraded their accounts only AFTER Google announced Gmail, which means Yahoo and MSN could have provided better service much sooner.Ã,  MSN is STILL trying to milk money out of their users to upgrade their accounts.]
