Voltaire?

Contrary to popular belief, apparently not. But of course, regardless of who said it, that shouldn't stop others from being able to echo the sentiment. ;)

Well, he also said than the force of habit is more powerful than truth. Something like that, I dunno how it sounds in English. ;)

unless they realize what an empty bullshit statement it is

Perhaps a more realistic mantra of, "I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend until moderate discomfort your right to say it." ?

It's a phrase I heard one too many times from military personnel when questions and statements got too difficult for them to deal with.  Instant Nobility (TM)!

The Inquisitive Stranger

Now I wonder whether "a witty saying proves nothing" is also not really a Voltaire quote...
Actually, I HAVE worked on a couple of finished games. They just weren't made in AGS.

That one, apparently, is genuine, from his dialogue Le dîner du comte de Boulainvilliers.  You can go here for a fairly comprehensive list of real and spurious Voltaire quotations.

Helm

I enjoy the witty way in which Voltaire died. It proves everything.

The Helm version:
"I don't agree with you, and I'm ready to kill you because of it"

The Bruised Weasel version:
"I don't agree with you, and I'm ready to die, period."

Helm

the Helm version would most probably be like "I don't-- "
