Title: DVD ripper
Post by: HillBilly on Sat 04/03/2006 20:59:32
Hello,

I've ordered a forgein DVD(Region 1), and I want to play it on a region 2 DVD player. The DVD works fine on my computer, and I only need a few segments of the DVD. So I'm thinking I just need a program that can rip certain parts of it, and then convert it to .avi or whatever. Is there a free software that can do this for me? I don't want to rip the whole thing.

I've googled, but only came up with crap. So I'd rather use something recommended by a live person than a multi-download site.

Thanks.

Oh yeah, it's this one. (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000BWVAH/qid=1141505434/sr=8-6/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i6_xgl/203-9894452-4561559)  :=

DVD Shrink.
I don't have a link but its exactly what you're after. Bypasses copy protection as well, which is somewhat dubious, but it works a treat.

Thanks, that worked perfect.

Now let's all wait for this thread to be forgotten.

i use DVD Decrypter for such DVD stuff, although funnily i have never used it for illegal activities...
i used it to make a divx (combined with DVDx as it only rips the VOBs and IFOs) of my Honda "COG" commercial dvd.
it lets you choose which part of the dvd you want to rip too (main movie or extras), it's a really handy app, i plan to use it to convert all my DVDs to avi once i get myself a divx player.

BOYD1981 have you ever used AutoGordianKnot this automates the process of converting dvds to avi.
