Title: EPSON PERFECTION 1200U Scanner Problem On My Windows 7 Home Premium Computer
Post by: The Meek Geek on Fri 20/11/2009 17:18:55
 ???

I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my PC. So far, it's a really cool O.S.,

however...

I am unable to find the latest Driver to make my EPSON PERFECTION 1200U Scanner work!

I've checked the Epson Website, the latest Driver is for Windows XP! :(

Please give me some helpful advice on what do do with my EPSON PERFECTION 1200U Scanner.

Microsoft and Epson, I would REALLY appreciate your help in this regard!

I'm a part-time Graphic Designer, so I require the use of a Flat Bed Scanner.

I do not want to shovel up some more money to buy a new Scanner. I'm want to keep this one.

I would appreciate any helpful Video or Text Comments that you may have.

A quick search of google showed that some had good results installing the XP driver in Windows 7. Did you try that already?

Also, you could try emailing epson for an equivalent generic driver...

Please tell us what you tried already. Also, are you running 32 bit or 64?

I'm not sure about that error. I'm not an epson support tech... but, I did check a little more into it for you. I did find this on the epson FAQs for your scanner.

QuoteQ: The Microsoft Windows 7 Support page does not list a driver for my scanner. Is a driver available for my scanner?

A: No, there is no Windows 7 driver available for your product.

Looks like it might not work, but there are a couple of other things you can try.

1) Run the driver installer under windows XP compatibility mode.
2) email Epson support (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&category=Products&infoType=Contact&oid=14568&prodoid=9921) and ask if there is any way to get it working.
3) You can try to find generic scanner drivers for windows 7 that will work. What about the generic windows scanner driver? I couldn't watch your youtube video because I'm at work.
4) Post your troubles on a printer/scanner forum... you should probably do that anyway.

I e-mailed a request on EPSON's Website. I'm hoping it works out in the end.

Wish me well.

And thanks for your guidance.

*** UPDATE ***

This is the response from EPSON...

Dear Jeremy,
I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties locating a Windows 7 driver for your Epson Perfection 1200U.

At this time, there is no Windows 7 driver for your Epson product. Check www.epson.com/windows7 for future updates as we are still working on posting some drivers. If your product is not listed there, then it is not compatible with Windows 7.

Should you require further assistance with this issue, please reply without history (when possible), as our email system contains all previous correspondence. If you have a different technical support issue, please submit another email request via our website (http://www.epson.com/support), and we will respond in a timely manner.

Thank you for contacting Epson.

... Well, this is frustrating.
