GREECE FOREVER!

I didn't know other Greeks were on these forums! Well, greetings from Cyprus ;D

Harvester

Damn! My Internet connection was broken for the past few days, so I was unable to post here  :( Anyway, my heart burns with joy now! Greece RULES! And, needless to say, I won some money again (I bet on X-2, meaning that it was going to be draw after the first half and then the Greeks would win, which is exectly what happened, hehe), so this championship was definitely a success. Yippe!

A few more things:

1) Many people say "This is really a surprise!", "Nobody knew Greece was going to win" and similar crap. Well, I bet on Greece in every single game, except the one with Russia (the only game they lost).

2) I reeeeeaaaaly don't understand those accusations about Greece not playing attractive football. I mean what the hell? I really enjoyed watching their fast transitions, accurate passes and everything else. And they were one of few teams on the tournament that weren't trying to walk in the net with the ball - when they reach 16 - 17 meters, they SHOOT. And you can't score if you don't shoot. I don't see why iz Czech or Portuguese football more "attractive" than Greek.

3) Otto is a genius. But probably even more, a great psychologist. I heard about many many problems in the team (like Nikolaidis trying to buy AEK and other players boycotting him and stuff), hardly anyone thought they'd even go to quarterfinals and they still like WON THE TOURNAMENT! How groovy is that?

Bah, it's getting late, so I'll quickly finish this with a joke I invented myself:
Q: Why is Bulgarian team so bad?
A: Because they have two players from Serbia in first 11!
Mwahaahahahhahahahahahahhahahahah!! Good, eh? Anyway, congratulations to everyone from Greece and long live Greek Orthodox Church!
None shall pass!

Indeed Harvester. The three Serbian players we have in our team are two defenders and one midfielder. The two defenders 'made' 7 of the 9 goals, and the midfielder missed 5 goals in 3 matches.
And by the way, it is Byzantine orthodox church.

I may as well put this here.
Former England and Barcelona manager Terry Venables has just signed with my local club.

That is absolutely hilarious.

Quote from: AndailIncredible to think that Russia was once a great soccer nation.

Yesterday I saw an interview with Otto. They asked him, who their strongest opponent was. His answer: Russia.

Russia still has talented players, it's not talent they're lacking. I just heard an interview with Otto on the radio, and he basically said that he'll leave Greece in order to coach the German national team...  :-\

Shouldn't it just be the Orthodox church, period? :P

I like Russia very much, so I'm going to blame the referees for their defeats.

Well, just now I had time to post here...

Congratulations to all you greeks for the championship! ;)

The thing is, I watched Portugal's last matches and must admit I felt like it was my own country playing (not only because of the cultural similarities, but also (and mainly) because of "Felipão" who is from a city near the one I'm living now and was also the coach of my team - Grêmio).

So you can imagine how exciting it was the match against England and how sad I felt after the final... ::)

But, anyway, as I said: Congrats to y'all Greeks out there!

OFF_TOPIC:
Speaking of Greeks, could any of you clear THIS out to me? (see the last post)
I found it really interesting when I saw the names of the greek players and wanted to know whether it's just a coincidence or not...
Don't blame me - I didn't know it!   (I have the feeling this will come handy...)

Otto will stay in the Greek team whoo hoo!

That's so... Greek. :P

Thanks Felipe! ^_^ About the Greek names, yes it's true, like 99.9% of Greek male names end in an "s". I'm not exactly sure why this is so, but I guess that since Greek is a synthetic language (erm... English major stuff, sorry), it's a way of showing the gender, since Greek female names don't usually end in an "s".

Yes, greek male names end with "s" except some names end in "ou" (georgiou, ioannou etc)

And a joke relative to Euro 2004

If your wife gets into bed wearing a GREEK jersey, what is she trying to tell you?
There is NO f****ng way you are SCORING TONIGHT!  ;D
