What laptop to buy?

Hiya, here goes the hardware advice weekly again.

On one hand I know a lot about desktop computers, but at the same time I lack almost any knowledge regarding laptops, partly because I never used/needed one.

Now, the time has come for me to buy one. And because the offer is so huge, I need to narrow it down, with your kind help I hope.
As always, the criteria are the most important, so:

- I need the laptop for school/work(translating)/mobile internet purposes
- No extra powerful gaming rig, I have a powerful desktop at home
- The price should not exceed ~450 EUR (but as always, I guess there are exceptions).
- Battery life should be as high as possible, of course
- Not a small screen (no smaller than 14")
- Convenient keyboard (a LOT of typing, so as close to desktop keyboard as possible, I guess this is interconnected with the screen width)

I don't want to buy a too expensive/stylish/powerful piece. In case someone will steal from me or I will drop/damage/destroy it while moving or whatever. I need a cheap (but not too cheap/shitty) laptop that suffices to heavy text utilities usage, has WiFi and similar connectivity means, and has several USB ports, but as I said - I don't aim for massive performance.

Now when I searched our local shops, trying to find something among 350-450 EUR, I found these three:

1. ASUS K50AB-SX088/ AMD Turion X2 RM74 (2,2Ghz)/ 15.6" WXGA HD Glare ColorShine 1366 x 766/ ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 512MB/ 2GB RAM/ 500GB 5.4k/ DVD/ WF/ CAM/ without OS - 411 EUR

2. MSI CR700X-018CZ/ Intel Celeron Dual-Core T3000 @1,8 GHz/ 17" 1440x900/ 3GB RAM/ nVidia GeForce 8200M G/ 320GB 5.4k/ DVD/ WF/ CAM/ without OS - 396 EUR

3. MSI VR630X-240SK, 16" WXGA 16:9 (1366x768) Glare, AthlonX2 QL62 2.0 GHz, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, VGA NVIDIA GeForce Go 8200M,... - 360 EUR

I heard that Acer notebooks are pure shit. Asus are a golden middle way AFAIK, in terms of value/price. I don't know about MSI, but I like the two ones I found. I have only two things I am worried about regarding the MSI ones:

First, what is the deal with WXGA? What does it mean? I have read that "MSI laptops look pretty nice, but I'm not too fond of the low res screens. I dont mind on a smaller format, but when you're at 15" or higher, I don't think XGA and WXGA are the way to go.". What does it mean? Can someone elaborate?

And second, the AthlonX2 is unknown to me. I trust Core2Duos, but have no experience with AMD for the past two years.

What do you think? Should I get ASUS or MSI, or something completely different? Are these three okay or not?
Thanks for any pointers, for I'm lost in this field...
