I'm bored. Let's all meet up in brighton some weekend. Andail is here. M0ds will totally be here. Spleen also.
discuss.
This is an interesting proposal. I would be willing maybe. I am not sure. It would depend on If I find a new job and if I would be able to get a weekend off.
I'd probably be game.
Is Brighton a fun place to have fun?
Davy
I'm up for a weekend in Brighton.
Are we thinking a Friday night to Sunday afternoon, or Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon?
Could be fun... I don't care what days it is, I'd get the megabus probably because I'm poor, that is cheaper in a week, and even cheaper in two weeks.
Would there be some free place for us coming-from-miles-away people to sleep? I AM POOR.
If you were being serious and it was the weekend of the 18th, I could come down and bore you all with my greatly exaggerated tales of adventure.
Plus it'd be good to catch up with Andail.
Oh er and of course you too, Yutzster :P
I can't offer anyone a place to stay because the house I'm staying in
1) isn't mine
2) is very small
3) i don't like most of you
but i can entertain you with delightful tales of delight :)
Well acording to the AA, it is only 77 miles from my home, and around 1 hour 42 minutes. I say a bit less than that ;)
The only problem is that I definately can't this or the next weekend (11-12 and 18-19). If you want to do it go ahead... If you would like to wait, I give you promise that I'll come (without sleeping there though)

Any campsites or hostels or hotels nearby?
Hmm, I think there's one near the marina.
I'll check it out for you. I'm sorry I can't have any of you stay here, it really is very small though, and like I said, I'm only a guest here myself :) so I can hardly go inviting others here.
I was thinking it might be easier for us just to meet up for a day... you know, get there in the morning and leave that night? I didn't mean the whole weekend :)
But Brighton is a really fun, happening place, so maybe you guys would prefer to spend a weekend down here? I'm sure there ARE campsites... like I said, I'll check up tonight :)
Thanks Yutzster,
I'm just thinking of the practicalities of people travelling for 1 day - I know how much trouble it is to get home from london at the weekend, nevermind Brighton.
Personally, I don't mind spending the night in a B&B or Hotel, but then I know some people would be on a tigher budget, hence the Campsite / Hostel suggestion.
I expect it'd be like Gilbertfest was for some of us without cars, come early, leave late, stand freezing in bus stop 7 hours until the busses/trains start running. It's easier than finding somewhere to stay, anyway.
i'll be going. look for a guy with a red dress.
I was there yesterday! Didn't you see me?
Aloha!
Any weekend in March is fine, including around the 18:th. For a hostel I recommend St. Christopher's Inn, it's the cheapest in town and you can all sleep in the same room, which would be fun in itself I guess.
For the poorest of the poor I can probably accomodate on or two people in my house.
And if anybody in interesting in going to a party with roughly 50 pretty Swedish girls aged 20-21, we could do that as well. It happens every Saturday night.
Well, just seeing you guys would be swell.
QuoteAnd if anybody in interesting in going to a party with roughly 50 pretty Swedish girls aged 20-21
Why yes, I'm interested. Let me just pack a few bags.
Helm.. You plan on wearing anything other than maybe briefs when partying with 50 swedish girls?
How odd.
He's going to need a few bags worth of briefs, of course.
A PUN HAS CLEARLY BEEN MADE.
There is also a travelodge.
Okay so everybody post the dates they are most likely to be able to come. What about... Saturday 18th?
Also Andail erm could you text me your number again I... broke my phone :( and your number wasn't saved to my sim
Any date should be fine for me, and for scotch too, I believe.
Alas, I would never be able to come, I live on the other side of the world, in canada, on the west coast. alone, oh so alone! :-[
Yeah any date is fine, and if we take the megabus (likely because National Express is over £50!) we'd appreciate somewhere to stay overnight, perhaps we can take up Andail's offer. 50 Swedish girls? Why would we be interested in that...
Well if they're not obese...
Don't go, it's a trap!
Yeah, they're all FEMBOTS omg
I think I'm good for the 18th - will need to look into modes of transport first!
Big up the 18th! If anyone needs a lift from the London area you're welcome.
I don't need a lift! I want to drive!
If I ever go to England, can I drive your car, Chris? I think it'd be cool to drive those crazy cars with the wheels on the wrong side of the car on the wrong side of the road. :P

Ooh! Ooh!
[raises hand]. I'm car trained and everything Chris!
Do we want to run a 'roll call' for numbers of definites and maybes?
Hmm, define "London area". Is the centre too far out of the way? :P
It seems like accomodation will be the main problem here...
St Christophers Inn seem to require a minimum of 2 nights stay.
The travelodge is fully booked that night.
How much floor space would you be able to spare, Andail? I guess we could just wing it and hope to find something, or wander round the town in a daze all night until we collapse in a drunken stupour.
Quote[raises hand]. I'm car trained and everything Chris!
Excellent, that's more than I can say for AGA!
QuoteHmm, define "London area". Is the centre too far out of the way?
If by "the centre" you mean Victoria, then yes. If on the other hand you mean a tube station further out, such as Hatton Cross or Stanmore, it could certainly be arranged...

I haven't looked into these in any more detail yet, otherwise we will all have to sleep in the vertical at Andail's I guess ;D
How much space? Not entirely sure, depends on how uncomfortably people can sleep.
My bed is big enough for three people if they don't move and if they're pretty tired. Then we have one extra matress, and two sofas in the living room. Problem is the sofas are pretty short, and won't allow for very good sleep unless you're Candyman.
I might be able to sleep at my girl's place, although she stays with a family and they don't allow guests over night, but maybe I could sneak in and out, I don't know.
Just come, we'll sort it out somehow.
Yay!
I am most happy!
Brighton for teh win :)
All bring your DS and Animal Crossing/Mario Kart.
Also, people who are going, PM me with your phone number so I can keep in touch with y'all :)

We're going to get a Tube from Victoria to Hatton Cross, since that would avoid Chris having to drive into London.
National Express just started a deal, go anywhere for £18 return, which is actually cheaper than the megabus to London and back would be now. So we're looking at that, you may not have to pick s up after all. Yufster, CJ and everyone, what time do you think we should all meet up?
I am starting a new job tomorrow, so a weekend off will be impossible for the forseeable future. I may be able to come during the week in a few weeks.

Hell, that's even easier for me, I can just get a bus from Staines. AGA, do you still have my mobile number from Brittens? Easiest is probably if you text me when you're leaving Victoria, and I should be able to get to Hatton Cross by the time you guys arrive.
Andail, sofas and floors are no problem for one night. I hope I'm not leaving anyone out but the current numbers look like:
Andail
Yutzster
Scotch
AGA
Myself
Chris
In which case, if a couple of us bring sleeping bags, we could crash on your floor? Would that be ok? I certainly wouldn't want to kick you out of your own home (I'm saying this now, cos it might be different at 2:00am...) ;)
I have your mobile number, yeah. Still need to find out when Chris will be available for lifting before we organise too much though :)
Does anyone have a transporter I could borrow? cuz' the only way I could make it is if you could beam me up.
QuoteHow much space? Not entirely sure, depends on how uncomfortably people can sleep.
I'm perfectly happy on the floor, I'll bring a sleeping bag so any space is a good space.
Well, unless it's a space with big spiders and other creepy-crawlies that scurry over you in the night.
QuoteAll bring your DS and Animal Crossing/Mario Kart.
Not sure if I can bring my DarkStalkey, I think Becky has pinched him... but no matter, I'll try to hit a fox crossing the road and bring it with me.
QuoteAlso, people who are going, PM me with your phone number so I can keep in touch with y'all
Are you still using your Irish phone number or do you have a UK one these days?

Just to clarify, the route I will take to Brighton will involve going straight past Staines and Heathrow (and therefore, Hatton Cross too). Picking you up from home is no problem at all Matt -- AGA and scotch, let me know when you've decided whether you're using the National Express deal or whether you'd like a lift.
Time of day is no problem for me, depends what time our hosts are prepared to accept us I guess ;)
Are you sure Chris, cos I honestly don't mind coming to you? ;) ;D
I'm right on top of the M25, so I'll keep an eye out for any news regarding roadworks (I know the expanding the whole things, as it's not quite big enough, and that sometimes means they close or limit the junction near me).
If Andail comes back with a thumbs up, I can bring a sleeping bag as well (don't like the sound of the creepy crawlies though - will need to assurances on that side of things...).
I'm good timewise as well (dependant on transportation of course ;))
Starting to look forward to this - 18th / 19th March right?? ;)
Whenabouts is everyone intending on arriving in Brighton?
Got a UK number these days :) I'll PM you my number in return so we can all contact each other and not get lost :)
later today I'll compile a list of people coming and we can sort out accomodation and stuff.
Lo res man, yes, we know you're not coming since it's the second or third time you've mentioned that you're not coming ;)
The best thing with this Brighton meeting is that we finally get to see this Lo res man.
So Yuf, are you arranging for a guest appearance by Tim Schafer?
Are the dates set for the 18th? I personally would prefer the week after, since it's the last weekend my Dad lives in my flat before finally moving up North, and he'll be rather upset if I do a bunk.Ã, If it can't be re-arranged, f*ck him, I've seen him enough times over the years to warrant a weekend off.
If you have space, CJ, and are willing to transport my ass and various other paraphenalia, I'd very much appreciate a lift. If not, I'm happy getting a train, apparently it's quite cheap for me.Ã, (I'll sit left-back, to avoid fondling opportunities, a la Gilbofest).
Also, someone please explain the costs, pre-booze, to me, since I'm too drunk to make any sense of this thread.Ã, Floor space, table space or bath space would be greatly appreciated, but if worst comes to worst, there's an all night Rocky Horror Picture Show night at some gay bar in Brighton.Ã, If I shave my head again, I could go as Riff Raff.Ã, I'd prefer something other than ass-space, tho.
EDIT:
I'll have a mobile number by the end of the week, I'll PM someone with it. Hopefully I won't leave this mobile in Victoria Station like I did at Brittens.
I want confirmation that Mark 'M0ds' Lovegrove is coming... else I ain't opening my town gates ;)

I'm with CJ, a few drinks, a look around and a good time - like Brittens without the tents!
1. Where the hell is Hatton Cross?
2. I think the pier that burnt down was Southend Pier. It was a dump anyway. Populated by Boy Racers, Chavs and Junkies and Slags. It's like a convention for baseball cap wearers.

But whenever the next social goes down I'll try to be there!

Ok, so um, just to clarify:
Where should we meet you once we get to Brighton? Petter, is there parking available around where you live?
Spleen, will you be needing a lift or not?
Not going unless MArk goes.... you can scab off me any time... except I have no money so scab off AGA instead...
CJ I'll let you know tonight, please PM with your mobile number. It will all depend on if I can get up in time, ergo what time I've managed to find all the stuff I need. (IE, my DS, to give to scotch). If I can't, I'll make my own way there, only later. It also depends on whether I have band practice on Sunday morning. If so, I'll be getting the last train back to London.
And as for m0ds. If you're willing to pull a sickie, you can scab off me. All I ask is that you fall out of another tree.
Are there trees in Brighton?? LOL! Well, I'll see if I can get to leave at 3, if i can then I will hopefully come but I'll also need to know what the parking situation is like near Andail's too. It will be missions but a bit of fun :)
Andail, Parking? :)
Andail, address? :)
Spleen, I've PM'd you my number. If you're coming along with us, you'll need to get to Hatton Cross tube station at about 11:00.

Brightens was coooool!!
I sat on the floor? And who did you "pull"? One of us or one of the Swedes?
Anyhow, now my memory and general sobriety has recovered..
My Highlights:
- The three retards on the train down, who seemed to have elected a leader by him being the tallest, arguing about pocket billiards and perving on every girl they could find.
- The tuppence machines on the pier.
- The Ninja Something arcade machine, which has a light-gun thing.
- The music on the pier. Muzak with lyrics.
- Matt's fruedian slip regarding trampolines.
- The Chav-spotting scorecard.
- The comedy toilets in the pub, that were so small the hand dryer was bolted to the back of the door.
- Baffling two tramps with a combination of maths, logic and my odd interpretation of reverse psychology.
- Spaff bringing Monkey Island beer mats, which I subsequently lost. Unfortunately. Thankies, Spaff.
- A poncy restaurant. Spaff and Yuffie have fancy tastes. Except when it comes to the actual food. I still haven't a clue what that meal I had was.
- Going to the bar and asking for mustard, after we'd eaten. Then asking for a spoon.
- Meeting Andail's house mates, and then playing several odd party game things. Where I answered "Oberst" as three different subjects beginning "O". I've still got no idea where I got the word "Oberst" from.
- The world according to the Swedish. Which is still in 1977.
- Going to the off-licence and returning with enough booze to fuel Andail's party's for the next week. Enjoy it, Andy.
- Trying to find the rock club, and going in the wrong place by accident.
- Spending a fortune in the Engine Room, one of the worst dives I ever found. And I been in lots. Like all the classics, there was sweat dripping of the ceiling.
- Ordering tequilas, it goes kind of hazy after that.. And I can still taste them now.
- Arguing with the guy who worked for the Engine Room, about my band's website. Which, I now realise he's not actually seen.
- Being called an "Edmundo" by some guy outside Wimpy. Apparently, "Edmundo" is some kind of odd slang version of the C-word in Brighton. I still want to kick his ass.
- Calling 118118 and asking for a cab firm in Brighton and getting put thru to a place in Doncaster. Or somewhere up north.
- Waking up still completely smashed.
- Hearing CJ talk about sausage bones.
- Tripling the 7UP sales in Brighton.
- Always going up hill. Always.
- Hearing about how well organised paedophiles are on the radio. Juice FM, I think.
- The awful 4-train journey home after CJ dropping me outside a tube station. Thankies for the lift, Mr. J. It's much appreicated.. And lastly:
- Marie. She rocked. Hard. (Unfortunately, chances are, I'll never see her again. Insert sad face here).
Thankies to Andy and the other Swedes, for hosting and generally putting up with us. You did a fantastic job. Thankies to Yuffie for getting us to go there in the first place, even tho you weren't around for the majority.. And thankies to Marie for making my night, and I really hope you manage to get your coat back.
I'm trying to see if Yufster is hot or not but I can only see the back of her head... :\ Is there a decent pic of her that I missed?
Looks like fun anyway, I hope I can go to one of these things someday :(
Yeah, that was great fun, thanks a lot, all who attended. And thanks for all the booze, Spleen, that was very generous of you!

"Scotch gives Yufster his undying attention"
How inappropriate.
Well I am glad every one had a good time, too bad I couldn't come but hey, teleporters still in experimental stages. now does anyone have a TIME machine? ;D
You didn't come? I thought you were coming...
If he didn't come, then ... who on earth did I lend all that money to?

Maybe I will, LAST WEEK ;D
Dammit. So unhappy that I missed it. I was working in my new job, and as with new jobs working in a pub it can be quite difficult to get time off. Boo!
I wll make it to Brittens and hopefully mittens.

Spleen - It would explain why he was standing outside Andail's house wondering where he got £90 from...
I thought he had robbed the off license ;D

Wait a minute. Why the hell did I ask for a pillow?
More importantly, why does my ass hurt?
(My coccyx, at any rate. Did I fall down a flight of stairs or something?).
You probably fell over multiple times. You were very drunk.
I've been drunker and remember where I hurt myself.
You went to a party in Brighton, and now you can't remember why your ass hurts.
Hahaha.

You just can't tell with internet ;)
Or, infact, real life.

I am picking up a disturbance in the force, something tells me that Mr Flibble has experience on this subject. :P
