Cheesy?  Cliche?  Yep, but I'm finding myself addicted to Facebook!!

Anyone else from here, on there? Apart from you M0Ds!!

Evil

I use it to send invites and match faces to names I hear. Not really into all of the other crazy apps and stuff.

Matt Goble

A friend of mine gave me a heads up on the movie app (flixster?), but other than that I'm just finding it a great way to keep in contact with old friends etc.

Radiant

Yeah, I'm on the Dutch equivalent (Hyves) but not really active, I kind of fail to see the point.

Facebook is much better than ---edit myspace.   The layout is so simple and clutter free.

Also, News Corp. doesnt own facebook.  You can find me on there:  Jesse Spottswood Moorefield

Mr Jake

I agree! Facebook is tons better than Facebook!

Im on there, use it to share photos between my university friends mainly.

Vel

It's a well-organised online social network, but I use it only because many of my friends and now ex-classmates do. Last.fm is so much more my cup of tea.

Pumaman

I keep hearing people talk about it but so far I haven't used it. My impression is it's just another myspace?

Mr Jake

Same sort of idea as myspace, but its more focused on keeping in touch with actual friends than random kids from the internets.

Facebook is far more essential than Myspace! Seriously though, Facebook is great if you want to be in touch with people you thought you'd long forgotten. With myspace, people have to search you and what not. On Facebook, somehow, people just come across you and vice versa - making it much more rewarding.

Personally, I'd sacrifice my Myspace for Facebook, simply for the number of contacts you can generate by doing literally nothing. And all the people who are in my Facebook contacts, are very worthy of it. A lot of myspace people can be random peeps adding you just cos you have a similar interest.

But, that said, Facebook does sometimes tell you a bit too much, and now they've added all those application things its gone a bit crazy, but thats only cos all my contacts keep adding new ones. You can turn down how much information is presented about you & other people, so you can be free of knowing what your friends are up to, or you can get all the details, including when they last used the toilet.

Amazing!!!

Vel

Quoteincluding when they last used the toilet.

Provided, naturally, they share this information.
Also, facebook has these school/college/university networks where you can meet people from the place you study, or encounter ones you've studied with.

Buckethead

I still have like 30 invitations of Face book running. But I really don't feel making a profile lol

Scummbuddy

Just as I was going to start us a "Big Blue Cup" group for us all to join, there already is one, and it has nothing to do with us...

Guess I'll just make us an AGS group.

- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

I go back and forth between being an addict on facebook, and just checking it once a week.

I've never used myspace, so I can't compare the two, but this is a very effective way to keep in contact with everyone. It's also nice for planning events. It's a nice way to keep pictures of yourself and friends up there. (I have a few mittens pictures up). Mostly it's just fun to see when people start or end a relationship.

If people from my past really want to get in touch with me, they can hire a private investigator. Or they can search for my name in Google. Or they can ask people they know who also knew me until they find a lead and do their own detective work.

Seriously, I have very, very little use for websites like MySpace and Facebook. If I want a website, I'll either make a crappy one myself or pay a real web designer to do it for me.

It helps if you have friends.

But it's not really about having a website, it's about creating a network of people that you can easily get in contact with. There could be many benefits in keeping in touch with people. You never know whats down the road.

Nikolas

I know and I agree with Mill...

And while I'm on facebook and linkedit and other stuff, still I rarely use them. I guess I'm too used with forums and find that I can keep in touch enough with forums... Don't need anything else.

Still I have a dear friend (and yes she's a she!) in facebook who invited me! :) I just loved the fact that she invited me! nothing more! I still don't do anything there...

That's just the thing, though. I have friends, and I do keep in touch with them. I use my mouth, phone, e-mail, and homing pigeons to do it, but... um... not all at the same time.

I was kidding when I said "It helps if you have friends." But I'm morally opposed to using smileys.

But you either enjoy Facebook or it's equivallent, or you don't.

Erenan

I was completely serious, including the homing pigeons.
