And I have no idea who Alex Salmond is anyway.

Its comments like that that turn me into a Scottish Nationalist.

OK, so Wikipedia has semi-reliably informed me that he is first minister for Scotland. But I don't know why his death would bring the entirity of Britain down - surely he only has very limited prominence south of the border?

Also, if he died at the same time as the Queen, I think his demise would be completely overshadowed; I doubt he'd have any significant effect on the outrage in the aftermath either.

Maybe I was a bit too extreme to say Britain would fall apart, but there would be serious implications. I am Scottish and I would feel angry if my first minister was killed and even more so if my Queen was killed. I honestly think that it would lead to another war "to top Iraq", maybe world war III. I think these terrorist attacks are getting so extreme and frequent that something is going to go ahead.

Ps I'm not for war just I think its got to the stage war is inevitable.

But who the heck would we attack? All that would happen is even further restrictions on personal freedom in the UK, and what a pain THAT would be.

Meantime, perhaps we should stop recruiting all these foreign doctors when there are 10000 British junior doctors out of work...?

Yeah well thats the question, but we have 3 or 4 of them so surely they are going to crack. And of course Britain will sort out immigration from now on ::)

I think that's the problem Bush got himself into. When faced with terrorism, governments will invariably look for a scapegoat regardless of whether they have anything to do with the attacks. It's just too easy to turn a police matter into an armed forces matter.
