The Olympic Games in Turino are opened.

I hope that these games will be fantastic. I wish luck for every country, espacially for my home country Germany.  ;)

Yay Finland! We're going to win gold in ski jumping, ice hockey, alpine skiing, freestyle, skijumping-skiing, dunno what's it in English... Oh, and curling, and skiing -women at least, this I guarantee, the rest, we might give you guys a chance, but we'll see :=

Tuomas, don't forget snowboarding. Antti Autti is gonna blow everyone away.

I wouldn't be too sure about winning gold in Ice Hockey.Ã,  Ã, That's Canada's job.Ã,  Go Canada!

Ã,

Cool stuff I found out: Men are four times more likely to be struck by lightning than women.  Wow, really? [dirty joke] Maybe this has to do with the fact that us men have "lightning rods"? [/dirty joke]

Huh? Man, the Olympics don't start for another 2 years, and they're in Beijing!

^_^ Sorry. Yeah, um, go all those wintery countries!! (Australia doesn't have much to do with these ones)

MalleTheRedPhoenix

Superb.

Two gold medals for Germany! That is a good start so far.

Tuomas

kinoko, actually australia does have a team there too. don't actually know what for, but they do...

Kinoko

I did say "much to do". By which I mean not as participants, but as watchers. Australia doens't care much for the Winter Olympics. It was only til I moved out of the country I realised lots of other people do :P

Mind yu, I'm watching it now. It's pretty awesome! I even saw an Aussie girl do okay in the skiing.

I hope that Georg "George" Hackl will get a medal in luge before he retire.

We also have good chances in Luge Men & Women, Speed Skating Women, Ski-Jumping, Biathlon Men & Women, Cross County Men & Women and Bobslide Men & Women.

ildu

WOOHOO!! Markku Koski took the bronze from the half pipe!

I thought I'd bring this up again, now that the olympics are over, sadly for us. Finland didn't get any gold medals, plenty enough of silver and bronze though. Can't say I'm disappointed, only that, we could easily have won the hockey final, but didn't have luck with us...

Well, at least it wasn't Canada or USA that won it but Sweden, so congrats to Sweden on this.

Haddas

We're the same country anyway. If SSH is anything to go by.

I seriously hope no one was even expecting Finland to win against Sweden.

Headlines on both Ilta-Sanomat and and Iltalehti said "Finland's gonna devour Sweden" :). I guess it swung the other way. It was really close in the end, though.

I agree. History tells not to be optimistic against sweden. ::)

It's not like I watched the games anyway.

Tuomas

I honestly believed we would win. The 6-5 catasrophy had nothing to do with these olympics. Finland had a better team than ages, we hadn't lost any games this far, yet Sweden had lost twice. And the fact that they are Sweden has no effect really.

Eigen

I've got to mention that Estonia really did good this year. 3 gold medals! Three!!

Rock on, Š migun and Veerpalu!

voh

2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze to the Dutch on skating!

AWESOME!

I'm so proud :)
Still here.

Timosity

We had some Canadian posing as an Aussie to win us a Gold (I think the story is more like, he was kicked out of the Canadian team 5 years ago from lack of training cause he runs his own multimillion dollar company, and Australia accepted him with open arms, and let him train in his own time) we got a Bronze in something else too.

Didn't see much of it, and it is hardly popular here cause there isn't much of a snow season and it's only in one little pocket in the south east of the continent.

Good to see Sweden doing so well, congrats
