Title: File hosting -- many alternatives
Post by: Gregjazz on Sun 01/01/2006 23:48:43
Found this website:

http://www.jdempsey.com/2005/12/08/free-online-file-storagesending/

It is a big list of free file hosters, so if you're looking for an alternative to YouSendIt or RapidShare, this will be very useful to you.

Hope this isn't too spammy. Just thought I'd share this information with you guys. :)

Hmm, hosting arguments eh? I've got a decent Surpass Hosting account, I could give free filehosting unrestricted with a script... Would people benefit?

Well, didn't tried if the script works or now, but there's a typo in the url, where there's an extra " , removing that, at least would bring you to an  existing page (http://www.americangirlscouts.org/agsuploads) (which I didn't check).

This would have no file extention/size limit.

You meant, this should?

I think it's better if the extensions are limited to avoid abuse of use, if you think some extensions definitely need to be there, just ask by sending an email (provided the email would be checked et al :=).

It works fine. I hadn't noticed the error in the email link ¬¬

The size extention restriction is to stop abuse, the size limit was because uploading more isn't really practical over HTTP - and we didn't want people to be uploading entire rars of copyrighted materials (something which shouldn't become a problem soon, so this limit could be upped/removed).  It _should_ although (Im not sure if it does  ::)) mention about emailing if someone needed hosting for a larger file.

So my hosting isn't needed?
