Title: FileFront
Post by: noxis on Tue 20/03/2007 23:52:49
I was just wondering what benefits I would have using FileFront as a file server for my upcoming release.  I don't have access to view it at the moment as I am at work and firewall won't let me access it.

Can somebody give me the criteria and the benefits of this website.

I use FileFront as the download mirror for Heartland Deluxe. It's fairly fast and reliable, but has two distinct negatives:

1. You can only link to the Filefront download page for your file, not to your actual file.

2. The person wishing to download your file must have cookies enabled.

Other than those points, I've found it fine.

What is the maximum size you can upload to filefront?

It's unlimited. :)

But a single file can't be bigger than 1GB.

Does the file disappear after a certain amount of days like BigUpload and all those other uploading sites.

Not that I know of. Heartland has been on it since November, and the TOS doesn't mention anything about time limits. So I'd say no. :)

Thank you so much for help LimpingFish, finally I have found a fileserver to upload my episodic game.  I'll have to admit the game isn't developed in AGS, but Wintermute and the game takes the role of the later Tex Murphy games with FMVs.  And each episode is around a 300mb download.

And my webspace doesn't have enough space to hold something like this, let alone the bandwidth as well.

Thank you.

Since Limpingfish has already provided the answers, I'm just gonna point this out for future references....please, just check the sites in questions. I'm sure you can find the specifics somewhere on filefront.com, and if that fails, it would be more appropriate to post your query on the wintermute's forum.
