They happen all the time, but now it's time we all recognised the serious fuck ups made by the film industry, please post with your most hated or loved mistakes that made the final cut

My contribution is from Return Of The Jedi, when the rebels pull up from the death star II, and they face the entire Imperial fleet, watch closely, as the hundreds of tie fighters fly towards the screen, watch the bottom of the screen, where did those tie fighters come from?

Only one I can think of off-hand is See No Evil, Hear No Evil. Dave is completely deaf, Wally is completely blind... until, apparently, a scene close to the end, where Dave is looking through binoculars and responding perfectly normally to Wally's questions. Bleh.

It's been a looooooooooooooong time since I've seen that movie but that sounds like it was done on purpose o_o It was a comedy.

My favourite one of all time is actually in an episode of Fawlty Towers. Someone busts through the swinging doors to the kitchen and you can clear as day see the stage hand on the other side of the door (there to close the door properly, I assume). I never get tired of seeing it (well, I probably would eventually, but I haven't yet).

There was also a movie I was watching on tv in the past couple of weeks... I can't even remember the title but someone slammed a phone handset back down to the phone on a table, and you see this hand come from the back of the table and quickly try to place the phone properly. I couldn't believe my eyes. I mean, this was a proper, full-budgeted movie.

From the webpage:
14    American Pie    In the bedroom scene the girl is holding a clear cup full of beer. The camera goes off her and when it comes back she is holding a blue cup. The camera goes back off her then on her and the cup is clear again.

CLEARLY a tribute!

In the Lord of the Rings, when Gandalf enters the House of Meduself at Edoras, he says:

"I have not travelled through fire and death to bandecrit words with a witless worm!"

The meaning of the word bandecrit is obvious from the context and I think it sounds like a word we may vaguelly recall...but in fact, it is not a word.  There is no word antyhign close to this word in the English language....however, by finding the passage that this was adapted from in Tolkien's book, the intended words can be discerned:

"I have not passed through fire and death to bandy crooked words with a serving-man till the lightning falls."

So, "bandecrit" was supposed to be, "bandy crooked"

I recorded it from the DVD so you can listen to it  :P

I hate film stuff-ups. Like, the movie Twins. Remember the scene where the doctor says Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger are twins, but they look nothing like each other. Man, how could you screw that up?

And remember where at the start they say that Schwarzenegger's character was supposed to be a genius, but in real life Schwarzenegger isn't really a genius. They should have replaced him with someone that's a genius, but looks like Danny Devito. Like Bob Hoskins. He's British and Brits always sound smart, saying things like, "I say, Lady Trent-Spompington! Fancy another cucumber sandwich with your tea?"

In conclusion, I think there were many missed opportunities in making Twins.

The major film "eff up" from Return of the Jedi wasn't that three Tie-Fighters appear from nowhere (A detail missed by most), but that in the new special editions of the movies, the Ewok song is absent from the end. That is a terrible crime to all cinema. I love that song!
I make music.

One of my favorite ones, that NOBODY catches, yet is so blatantly obvious, is in the film "Evil Dead II":

When the "evil force" from the forest barges into the house, chasing Ash around, you can clearly see where the set ends and the lights and scaffolding begin. But what you can't clearly notice is that the shot is peaced together from two different locations. It's brilliant.

Also, in the film "The Fifth Element", when the Mondoshawans open the gate to retrieve the Fifth Element, on the element itself (a golden-like statue staring into the sky) there is a very obvious handprint in the dust on its shoulder. It's such an eye-distracting part of an otherwise perfect and beautiful shot. I have no idea how they missed that.. Or why they didn't re-do it in pickups.. Maybe the couldn't I guess.

I just remembered another mistake in LOTR.  When the riders of rohan surround the fellowship then ride off, somebody's sword falls right out of its scabbard and nobody notices.

(Cue the Benny Hill music and various scenes of LOTR fuck-ups.) ;D

I saw this just recently, so it's fresh on my mind. But in the Drew Carey Show, there was an episode where the power went out. And all the lights turned off at the end, and it was pitch black. The only thing wrong with that is there was a huge window in the back and it was daytime. But my dad and I usually are good at finding film/tv f-ups. They always give us a laugh.

Totally agree, when we watched the remastered films at the movies we were all ready to sing the Ewok song and then... no friggin' song!
