Well, about this time last year it was quite clear which games were going to be the AGS Awards nominees: Cirque, TOAK, A2, etc. had all been out and had a lot of buzz. Now, this year it doean't seem to be so clear to me, but they maybe I just haven't been payign enough attention. But here's my impression of games that have been seen as good this year:

Ben Jordan 4 (and 5 will probably be in the running if it comes out in time)
Apprentice Deluxe (but will people go for a remake like this?)
Frank the Farmhand part 2
Barn Runner games
The Great Stroke Off
Yahtzee's Galaxies of Wonderment thingy (non-adventure?)
AGS 3D (non-adventure)
Chick Chaser
Jessica Plunkenstein
Noisy Mountain
Da New Guys
Where's M Hat Ma
Saturday School
Young Gabrial King
Robotragedy
Zooreal
Emily Enough

EDIT: Added EE... sorry, I thought i had it in there to start with!

I'll surely vote "Where's M Hat Ma?" and "AGS3D" for sound!

Hehe just kidding := , they're just some examples of great products this year, and we expect more, that can only mean AGS games are in general being strengthened, which is of course, a good thing. I'll expect by next year the Awards would be some bloody exciting competition, compared to last few years, where we usually have an obvious winner for each of the categories.

Maybe we can have more categories next time.

Emily Enough was a truly inspired and well-designed game, definitely needs to make the list.

Apprentice Deluxe (but will people go for a remake like this?)

Perhaps should just be allowed for best voice acting (if that exists) or whatever significant changes it made rather than letting it take all the awards. again. :D

Chicky

I really liked EE.

Oh and pudding, i saw someone at college today who looked JUST like you. It made me consider calling the guy custard.

Fascinating, I saw someone at college today who looked like AGA. Sorry to go offtopic like that ¬¬

Anarcho

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't played any of these games.  I've got to start downloading them!

The Brain from Da New Guys must definitely get the award of best player character! At least I'm sure I will vote for it :D

Chick Chaser was good.

I also enjoyed Yahtzee's game but didn't get hooked like with his other games, don't know what was lacking.

Ben Jordan was good, looking forward to 5.
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.

;D

And next year: Apprentice Deluxe Special Edition (even newer music)

Wohoo! my name is on the list... maybe there should be a short game category kind of like the oscars, and there were a lot of short games this year so far.

This reminds me that I need to play EE... it's sitting on my desktop  :o

Oh, and Geoffkhan + Big Brother: YOU GOIN' DOWN! (no need for WWE smackdown on pay-per-view for it :P)

Ponch

Barn Runner was listed! Woot! Now I feel all warm and squishy inside (moreso than usual, I mean).

My vote would go to Where's M Hat Ma? or The Great Stroke Off. Even though 2005 isn't over yet, I'm impressed by the high quality games that have been released so far. There are lots of good projects on the horizon so maybe 2006 will be even better.

I have a feeling 2006 will be an amazing year. It's most likely the year my own Gift of Aldora will come out! Of course, it'll win -everything-. The internet will come to a halt to view it's awesomeness.

I really wish it could come out this year but it just ain't gonna happen.

aussie

I think a couple of demos are missing from the list (there's a award for demos, isn't there?)

- The Oracle
- Heroine's Quest (that's a twenty-or-so-room demo we're talking about)

It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
