Title: Fort Knox
Post by: mikdog on Sun 11/10/2009 23:50:12
Hi,

I finished my game here:

Jokes. I posted here recently enquiring about a Mac OS X port of the AGS editor. I've been bent on making an old-school adventure game for the last little while. I was able to mostly soothe my 8-bit craving by putting some of it into this animated music video.

You jerk.
That image had me all excited about your new game.

Great video! Did you make it by yourself?
Someone get this man a copy of Parallels. Or Boot Camp.

Awww it isn't a game.

AND I WISH IT WAS  :D

Your crazy scenes had me actually laughing with my mouth wide open and big like I do when old men tell me very rude jokes.

Make a game, sir, and we will love you forever. And then a  little bit longer.

I don't really know much about Macs, but I know Sun's Virtual Box is a free, open source Virtualisation thingy, as opposed to parallels which costs money. As for getting a copy of Windows, if you know someone who has a copy of Windows 7 RC1 or somewhere to aquire a copy of the install disc, then you can still get a product key from microsoft before 21st of this month. Otherwise, after Oct 22 it goes on general sale. Last chance. Works fully til March 2010. I used it before I installed Win7 Pro (students get it earlier than general release fools.  :P ) No real issues and AGS works perfectly. Even as a Virtual Machine.

Alternatively you could just bootcamp Windows 7. Just remember to get a mouse with more than one button (took me forever to figure out how to bring up the right-click menu on a mac... honestly... gah!), and you will also have to eject the cd/dvd drive manually through windows (For some reason the eject button on the macs is run through software, not hardware like a PC.)

Cool music video, this band is from my hometown, Cape Town. I just saw them live on Friday at Rocking the Daises. Or was it Saturday? Can't remember I was pretty wasted this weekend haha.

You wouldn't happen to be from South Africa would you?

Phemar > Howzit oke. Keef ek se ha ha. Yep. Plett & Joburg. Big fan of their tunes.

Others > Thanks guys. Not too keen on Windows I must say but if it goes on sale I might take the plunge and infect my Mac with it. I'll have to relearn AGS language.

Peace

Making another animation. When I draw these backgrounds I think it'd be awesome if I could make a game with them. I'm inspired by the old Lucasarts adventure game background artwork, particularly Steve Purcell's work.
