Title: Forum error or Firefox error?
Post by: auhsor on Sat 23/10/2004 07:46:31
Ok so I'm getting something strange ever since I've started using Firefox a little while ago. It doesnt do it in IE As you can see in the pic, when there is a picture in someones sig that scrolls, it only loads the top corner.
If I refresh the page it loads properly, so I must be something wrong with not loading it all or something.

It doesn't bother me very much, but I was wondering if it was happening to others, or if it was just me. And if it is a forums error if it can be fixed somehow.

Maybe you have a slow computer or internet connection?

Yes Auhsor, the same thing happens to me aswell, and I'm using Firefox. I have no idea what could be causing it, but surely it's not my connection or computer. :P

Interesting, it does seem to be a Firefox thing, I've got cable so it's nothing to do with speed and it doesn't happen in IE or Opera.

I had noticed the smurf, but I just assumed that was the whole image, so I didn't consider it being an error as I haven't used IE in quite a while.

I use Firefox 0.8, everything works fine here.
What extensions, if any, have you guys installed?

Firefox 1.0PR, I've only noticed it lately and I've recently updated to the latest version.

If you refresh the page it fixes it, and seems to keep working for that image until you close the browser and reopen it.

I guess it's a small bug in the latest version, or atleast after 0.8

I've been using Firefox for a while, though I can't remember what version it was when I noticed the bug for the first time. I'm now using 1.0PR, and I have Dom Inspector, Download Manager Tweak, AdBlock, Copy Image and DictionarySearch installed.

Ok, I've got 1.0PR, but I'm pretty sure it was doing it in 0.9x versions. I didn't have FF before that. I've disabled Adblock, which is the only plugin (besides DOM inspector) that I have out of Petteri's, and it still happens. I guess its not part of extensions.

Gentlemen. I have a solution.

We ask CJ to disable scrolling signatures.

I thought Farlander modified his signature on purpose!

I think it may have to do with animated gifs being on marquee.

No, I have a jpg on my sig and it scrolls so it has nothing to do with gif. Hmm, I think me and Farlander are the only ones that has scrolling sigs.

Strange. Before I reformatted my PC I had FireFox, and I had no problems at all. (Since reformatting I'm back with IE and can't be bothered getting FF again.)

Yeah, I've been getting this problem lately too. I've never had it before with FireFox. And yes, reloading does fix it.

Sometimes I get it very briefly, but is dissapears after a fraction of a second and loads properly. 0.9.2 here though (I downgraded because my favourite extensions weren't updated to 1.0 yet)
