I don't know who still remembers the so-so movie "The Goonies". I have fond memories of that flick, mostly because of the intro sequence. It's basically a prison break and a resulting car chase: The italian low-class crook clan of the Fratellis and some police cars. The chase also introduces all Goonies, for all of them witness said chase.
The catchy, classic theme that plays during this chase is, obviously, the Fratelli Chase. I want to own that song. I consider it one of the most powerful pieces of classic music I know, and I wanna have it.
I learned that the song is part of the original motion picture soundtrack (basically unavailable here in frosty Germany, considering the age of the film) but also part of another compilation (Cinemagic) that includes memorable compositions of composer Dave Grusin (equally hard to find).
I also learned that there must be a freely available recording of that track here in the depths of the 'net. Freely available, sadly, to our friends over in America.
A request: Would someone d'load that thing for me, and send it over? I'll try to track the site where it can be found and re-post it here, but maybe someone already owns this version? Couldn't say if this is legal, but I can't see any harm done- just because a service is limited to one country...
If this can lawfully be considered an attempt at piracy, all apoligies, and feel free to delete/lock this thread.
so-so?? The hell you say!!!
The Goonies is one of my all time favorite movies!!
I have been hearing rumors lately that Spielberg and Sean Astin have talked about a sequel.
Anyway ... I'll see if I can find you that song.
heh...
After seeing Goonnies on the movies, etc, it finaly was played on the TV, where I actually recorded on tape the first 45 minutes of the movie, including the intro as well.
I'll look into it as well (though I'm not sure I can find anything really... Darth is a much better bet).
There goes all my blah blah about piracy huh? ;D
Yeah, the Fratellis are an awesome band.
Wait, they didn't do that song?
hehe
No, it is Dave Grusin who did the music. I did my research last night (afternoon for you dear Ivy) :D
Much appreciated. Aaaand I admit I also enjoyed the movie, Darth. So-so was more targeted at the general sucess and popularity. It's a good flick.
Yeah the Goonies rocks! (for once that the main character is NOT a pirate, it's cool) :=
The OMP Soundtrack olny have 10 songs, mostly 80's famous bands/singers (Cindy Lauper/ The Bangles / Speedwagons etc...).
The olny thing near 'classical' was the main theme.
Sorry.
:-[
But, CBS released an other soundtrack in 1985 with the classical themes (+1 Cindy Lauper), sounds that if 'Fratelli Chase' can be called 'jail break' that's the one you should look for.
Hope your gonna found it.

I have found it (of course!) ... I sent you a PM with the link to the file (didn't want to link to an illegally downloaded mp3 in this public thread!!)
I took a listen to it ... forgot how great it was!! I'm watchin' The Goonies when I get home tonight. Then Back to the Future, then Gremlins.
Anyway ... enjoy :)
All things considered I am a bit spooked now. Your efforts are highly appreciated, but I feel I shouldn't taint the forums with activity that can only be considered, well, illegal. Tastes wrong...
I thought there was a legal if tricky way to find that song; apparently that is not the case. Personally I wouldn't object, I'd just like to keep the forum a slightly cleaner place. This is no holier-than-you-attitude; I mean, I started asking. I will try to find the original CD on eBay, or maybe the next flea market. Or heck, I might as well go and find the DVD.
Thanks again to all helpful members.
Some moderator please lock this, or better, delete it.
as legal as it can get:
