Let's admit it, younger gamers: no games released today have quite the amount of charm that old 8-bit games have. So, I ask those of you who look for them: where can we find some free, fun, 8-bit style games?
Well you could always get famtasia or an emulator of the kind and download a bunch of old 8-bit games to play on it.
How about Virtual Apple (http://www.virtualapple.org/) where you can play (almost all) Apple II (e) games online. Or Virtual Atari (http://www.virtualatari.org/) if you like.
You can play some on Nintendo8.com, online. (http://nintendo8.com/) It's pretty neat.
theres also http://www.virtualnes.com/
which has pretty much every single NES game in existence, and you can play them right in your browser.
my whole class is now playing virtual ness ;D
dude you have no idea how much of my life has been lost to vNes..
Bah! vNes only has Nintendo 8bit and gameboy games! At least on nintendo8 you can play some all mighty Atari and C64 games aswell as Genesis and old DOS games! :P
I dunno. To me, playing online is like going to your friend's to play his games. I'd rather own them if only as files on my computer. That's why I use an emulator. though mostly I don't need to, I've got the best games here at home and a working NES!
Here is a Java VIC-20 emulator I wrote with some games, one of which I also wrote (Blue Star):
