Aussies... Akira Kurosawa's Dreams

Just wanted to tell my fellow aussies that the movie is on this week on SBS. I think it's on Friday or Saturday, but make sure you check your TV Guides to make sure.

I've always wanted to see the movie, but never had the chance to before now. Anyway, apart from that, I've got nothing to tell you all... except that I am cool.

I saw it too, Las -- was going to tell you too.

Uni also has a copy but they won't let people take out videos overnight -- We can only watch them in the library, which sucks.

I fell asleep after the 4th dream. It's quite patchy, but given what it is, I'm not surprised. Some lovely imagry though, but not absolutely riveting. But hey, I wasn't expecting any more.
I taped the rest and I'll watch later.

I saw it all and thought it was visually stunning.

However, it tended to drag in a lot of places -- at times, I was zoning out.

Like the snow-storm episode: there was several minutes of them walking through the snow without actually doing anything particular interesting or enlightning.

I did like the Van Gogh segment, even though Scorsese didn't make the best Van Gogh (I didn't know Van Gogh had a New York accent!).

But I especially liked the way the guy ran through all Van Gogh's paintings -- that was pretty neat.

On the whole, I liked it but I liked Kurosawa's other films more.
