Was there ever a game where you play as three characters at a time (not maniac mansion)?
Day of the tentacle (Maniac Mansion 2)
The Goblins 1, 2 & 3 and I have no mouth and I must scream.
Stickmen, if you imagine there's a third character.
Never heard of this goblin game, can someone give me a website that shows something about this game.
Do you mean Adventure games, or just any computer game in general.
Well, the best video game I can remember in which you controlled 3 characters at a time, was the Lost Vikings (released 1993 - I had it on my old Amiga computer). They each had thier own abilities and needed to help each other in order to complete puzzles and levels:

It looks like it's now been remade and rereleased for the Game Boy Advanced:

Anyways, 'twas a really kool little platformer type of game from what I remember of it.
As far a Adventure Game in which you controlled 3 characters other than Maniac Mansion.. Hmmm, well, I seem to recall some Adventure games in which, during gameplay, you might take over control of onother character, or some games let you select a character to play and the adventure and story-would unfold different as from thier perspective of things, but as an adventure game in which you could freely switch at anytime between 3 different characters, can't think of any right away.

Yes i can remember that one, was really nice. It has been released on the gba by blizzard i belive. They also made a sequal. But what i ment (as adventure games) is when the characters follow you around, cos i was thinking of making one with tree characters.
Didn't Goblins 2 have 2 giblins, and 3 have just one? I think the number of goblis got reduced each game. Anyway, the only game I can think of is DOTT. Try searching google for something like "adventure game 3 characters", you might find something.
edit: In fact, I came upon a game called Nippon Safes, Inc. which seems to have 3 controlled characters. The things you can dig up with google. :P
edit: Oh, so you mean a game where you play one character and two others follow you,or did I misunderstand?
Yes thats what i mean
I don't think there's been an adventure game where you have two other characters follow you.
There have been lots of RPGs with characters that follow you around, like some of the Ultima games.
Well then if we expand the list there is a game called Freedom Fighters where you can have 12 following you!
Interesting. I don't really see how it could add to the game unless you were -really -creative. It'd have to have a really good plot to go with it, to make it really work, I think.

In that case, make a game with 13 CHARACTERS following you!! That'll show Freedom Fighters who's boss!!
Hehe, but i think your getting this wrong, freedom fighters i a shooter game, not an adventure game. You never played it?
PS: Check out my thread at the critics launge!

Yup, that's true. Gobliiins had three goblins, Gobliins 2 had two, and Goblins 3 had just the one, as the "i"'s in every title suggest. :D
Can't think of an adventure game that had more than one character following you around though.

Who cares? Make an adventure game with 13 CHARACTERS following you to show Freedom Fighters who's boss anyway! You'll be, like, AGS Champion El Supremo!
Hey i made a character chart:
0-1: Normal adventure
1-3: Great adventure game
3-12: You will be known as the grand puba of characters
12-999999999: You will be arrested for cousing a fatal, hard disk breaking crash on every computer that plays it.
99999999999-Infinity: Will couse an irreversal time change on all the planets that exist.
Infinity-infinity+1: All humans will be trapped in adventure games, while all adventure game characters will be free to torture the people by making them "use" the fat guy.
0 player characters - "normal" game?
MYST :P
Having 2 characters does NOT make it a great adventure game, having 1 characters does NOT make it a good game, having 0 characters is plain dumb
Quote12-999999999: You will be arrested for cousing a fatal, hard disk breaking crash on every computer that plays it.
Freedom Fighters had 12 characters and didn't "couse" any hard disks to get fatal breaking crashes. You lied!
plus you wouldnt be arrested anyway, since, unless you are stupid... you put a 'damge to your system is not my fault' disclaimer somewhere. ::)
Does it count if you carry one of the other characters in your pocket, like Murray in Monkey Island?
I have other characters in my pants. They follow me around too.
Exactly

How would you feel if your "character" was missing, if you know what i mean ;)

NO MORE PENISH JOKES PLEASE >:(
And it goes downhill from here, people.
Freedom Fighters frequently crashed on my computer.
But, then again, everything does.
...
Ah, I loved that game...
my game will have three playable characters 8)
Not to break up your fun tanker, but infinity isnt a number

Why is it important to know which games have following characters in them? If you wanna make a game with 3 characters, Tanker, just go for it :)
Tanker, from what you've said you think that adding a couple of extra characters to your game will make it better. That is not the case.
It seems you want to make a game with 3 characters almost for the sake of it or just to be different (maybe I'm wrong).
If I was writing a game storyline and I felt it would benefit from extra characters then I'd add them but only if it would deffinately make ithe game better.
If (in your oppinion) it will make your game will be better then, as Kinoko said, go for it.
I think he was joking dg.
I don't see a problem with adding 3 characters just to have them. It would be interesting to write and design for and be a challenge.
However I don't recommend it until you've had a little more AGS practice
it could be nice for a detective game, to have 2 assistants, like in some old detective movies I've seen. The grumpy detective, the stupid assistant and the kiss-ass assistant.
Yeah he probably was joking.
What I meant was a good game with one character could well be a bit shabby when stretched to having three... If it wasn't done well.
I get the feeling Tanker just wants to be different so he's seen as the best, but I'm probably being harsh.
Having said that, and admittedly not being his biggest fan, I am interested in seeing how his game (The Assasins presumably ??? ) turns out.
From the little I know about the game I can see how it would be improved by adding more characers and I look forward to playing it if and when it is completed.
Oooh, ooh, what about Star Trek 25th Aniversary Edition or that other Star Trek adventure game. They had 3 characters. It was like being captain Kirk myself, with all my little alien buddies. And you got to meet some of my favourite characters from the show. Like the guy with the lasers. And the alien thing.
Also, you could shoot your crew.
Er... but I'm not a nerd...
Now stop pushing me into this locker.

Those games ruled! I can't believe I forgot about them until now. I would love to play them again...I should look for 'em. I'm sure they're around here somewhere...
I remember playing that game like a year ago, and the flight simulator part of it crashed the game so I had to skip them entirely. Fun games though. The best part was how you had so many different ways to solve the puzzles, and you actually got ranked on how well you did it (depending on how many innocents you killed, etc.).
