I have tried Paintshop Pro and Photoshop. Im not very familiar with Adobe Photoshop, but it seems it has much more abilities to play with. Paint shop pro is quite familiar to me, so I would like to stay with it..
Now I would like to know which one are you using with your AGS games?

And now for the questions..
1. I tried to do a 16bit image with both of these programs, but looks like you can´t do it with PSP. Is it possible? When you do a new image theres only 1bit, 4bit, 8bit, an another 8bit (greyscale) and a 24bit to choose from, but wheres the 16bit? I started to do a AGS game and seleted the 16bit high-colour instead of 256 colour 8bit, but now I can´t do a pictures for it. Can anyone help me? Which program do you use to do a 16bit pics?

most image formats asve to 8 bit or 24/32 bit, just use the 24 bit pcx format for high colour ags stuff, it will import fine.

I use photoshop, I used PSP for a few years before photoshop, and for beginners there probably isn't a lot of difference.  If you are good at painting I'd suggest photoshop 7 though, for the brush engine..

i use PSP7, but its used with three other programs, a 3D program for scenes, PSP for tidying up, animation shop for the sprites. i've never used photoshop, i did use Corel paint, but PSP is much better

Just use whatever you're comfortable with. If it's photoshop, that's fine. If it's Ms Paint, that's also fine. Just remember, a program packed with features won't help you if you don't know how to use them. And also remember that good artists almost never use photoshop filters.. You're better off working with the simplest tools (brushes, pens, and shapes) and getting comfortable with them, because those are the only tools that give you the control you need to create good, original artwork..

i use TrueSpace 2, its so easy to use, its quite old software, and is nowhere near as good as 3D studio Max, i have both but use TrueSpace all the time.
you can get TrueSpace here, its Free, and a full working version, its not a trial

I use picedit (Which I got when a downloaded AGI studio) to create genuine-looking AGI backrounds for my game
