In the run-up to Season 6 of Lost I've started a little countdown blog, which I'm going to update daily with various Lost-related things and stuff (mainly videos).

If anyone fancies having a look, you'll find it here:
http://countdownlost.blogspot.com/

I'm struggling a bit for hits, so if you fancy linking me up or speading the word I'd be grateful.

Cheers guys, hope you enjoy :-)

Sorry for the double-post...
I wanted to bump this, mainly because I'm still stuggling for hits, but also because I thought it would be interesting to discuss how people manage to get their blogs noticed?

When I initially plugged my Lost countdown Blog in here, I also tried plugging it in a few different Lost-related forums and on a couple of Lost groups on Facebook, and still I'm only getting about 20 hits a day on a good day.

What kinds of numbers do you get?  And how did you manages to spread the word?

I also have my Japan Blog which I have ressurected and given a make-over in preparation for my year abroad, which starts in August ;D.  While I'll get some of my friends and family to follow it, I could do with more of an audience.  I know personal blogs should be just that, personal, but sometimes it feels disheartening putting work into something that hardly anybody's going to see.

Please share your views, experiences, tips and tricks (and while you're at it, have a look at one of my blogs  ;) )

I dunno what youre calling 'hits'. Is that unique visitors or page hits?

My blog gets around 80 unique visitors a day, peaking at around 300-400 if I post something new or get plugged somewhere.

My advice is 2 fold:

A) comment on other peoples blogs, the through traffic you get that way is quite surprising.

and B) Do something interesting & often. Its vital that you get people to come back more than once, otherwise they might as well have not come at all. For example my blog has had about 1300 unique visitors in the last month or so but only about half of those have been back a second time (my blog is pretty boring).

I've been on your page a couple of times, i think you need more content on there for people to look through. Make two daily updates or something, even if it's just ripped from some lost forum :P

Yeh, I plan to turn the heat up a bit soon... maybe not extra posts a day, but bigger posts.  I havent been able to put too much time into them because of revision, but as soon as my last exam is out the way it will be approaching the final 10 days of the countdown.

I also don't plan on killing the blog once Season 6 has started.  I'll archive the 'countdown' posts and it wil become a regular Lost blog.  I'm going to write my own Episode analysis each week and have the odd feature here and there, as well as just carry on sharing my favourite clips and youtube videos, etc.

Regarding my Japan Blog.  Has anybody else ever kept a travel blog?  Or just an account of being/living in a foreign country... My previous incarnation of my Japan Blog wasn't exactly a success audience wise, but those who read it said they really enjoyed it.  So it's just a case of spreading the word really.
