In one way, good, you've finally realised you need to do this.
In another way, bad, you're in way over your head.
Absolutely 100% guaranteed SE won't take you seriously.

My advice: make a game with your own, original ideas and sprites. It's much more fun and rewarding.

PS. With your grasp of English structure, they wouldn't be able to make sense of anything you send them. Sorry, but it's true.

They'll want money.   So give them money I guess.

I very much doubt that Square Enix would license FF to anyone nevermind a kid.

You dont seem to quite understand how this all works... Square games have a certain level of quality.. the teams involved in making them number *hundreds* of people.
The fact of the matter is that you cannot compete with them and they *will not* work with you.

The main reason that this is all so stupid is that you dont need to make a FF game... Final fantasy games are all individual stories so just write your own story.. get rid of moogles and chocobos, they arent needed.

You can keep 'power crystals' or whatever and you can give your characters ridiculously pointy hair but it doesnt need to be a FF game.

*Write your OWN game*

Blizzards whacked out forum policy is suddenly making some sense to me.

Just to add to what everyone's saying;

Save yourself some time and don't bother. The effort involved in contacting SE for a cease-and-desist letter in return would be far better spent creating an original idea.

Agreed. You may just change the names of those creatures etc.

No offence, this I think goes for all games, unless it's a huge project, but I kind of doubt it they'll even care, you're not really any competition. And if, by some small chance, they do, they'll ask for money, and lots of it. So you basically have nothing to gain. Not to say you need to lose the enthusiasm, but balance it with some realistic expectations.

And you do know there's such a thing as emails, much less intrusive? Not to mention there's more of a chance that someone that works there might read it and not just blow it off.
Who's phone number you have anyway?
I don't want the world, I just want your half

Originality has its rewards.

People are giving you some very good advice here.

No they wont ask for money they will tell you to stop.

SE arent interested in any kind of 'lost revenue' from your game. They are interested in preserving the quality of the intellectual property.

Basically they dont want any old shit released under the title of Final Fantasy

evenwolf

I think they would accept 500 Billion dollars.    So in that sense you're wrong.

But in every other sense you are correct.  They want to protect their product.

It's possible. First a)I couldn't manage to contact the right proprietor for a much smaller game (that means they completely disregard you) b)You'll probably receive a template letter simply stating you can't. c) You wouldn't be able to buy one copyright out of them. It's like wanting to buy Sephiroth.

Look at me, BBC doesn't give a f#$%. And that's for the best.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Humm....I see,all is not lost but I just feel some day I'm gonna can and have to hear the truth but as for now the progress in pub master quest.2 has grown a lot with the invlovment of moogle's as the are the ones who build steam plans,bu as fo all the other pmq(s) to go they will not have square in it only icey untill I can get copy right :[...

Oh and thanks for all the advice...

Then again, you can always resort to parody. If you need a race that has invented steam engines and you just happen to *like* Moogles, create a race that is somewhat similar, but not a spitting image. A creative, well-meant parody often manages to pass the owner's radar, in the best case actually because they know that it *is* a sort of advertisement for them.

Have a look at here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_Enix
They have 2925 employees, $1.49 billion revenue and $86 million net income. Final Fantasy is one of their biggest game.

How much do you think it would cost you to buy FF's copyrights?
Games are art!
My horror game, Self

Completely off topic but I've always found the later Dragon Quest games better than the Finale Fantasy games. The last Finale Fantasy I really enjoyed was Finale Fantasy Tactics.

Now, on topic. It is great to have goals in life but this is way out of your reach. It's like trying to toss a pebble from Earth and hit Pluto with it. You'd be better off creating your own games and just drawing inspiration from the FF series. But if your heart is really set on it I suggest you do well in school, improve your writing abilities, join and finish a game development school, and then apply to work for Square Enix. That's is a more ideal approach (though it could still be unlikely). I'm sure they will still be making Finale Fantasy games in 2020.

You received some sound advice, icey and I've to agree.
I just found a link about a project that got C&D'ed by SE not too long ago!

Honestly, this is not to put you down or anything, but rather to put things into perspective. As Calin said, keep on doing your stuff, just don't use their proprietary assets!

Domino

I do not think you could do this over the phone or even email.

You might need a good lawyer and a ton of cash to go up against this giant.

I think you should stop the SE references.

Unless, you want them to come after you.

Do you have the dough to pay a good lawyer, and this shit would go to court, and you do not want that.

Icey games-, are you rich?

Wyz

I think you already got the point but let me add an extra encouragement for you:
When plotting a story or concept for a game forget everything you know, and start with something you don't know. That means you are using your imagination. If you come up with something that already exists in some other game then you have to try harder. You need to train your imagination and then sooner or later you will come up with interesting ideas. But it does takes an effort. Good luck!
Life is like an adventure without the pixel hunts.
