Some seriously painful ouchies dealt out as 30 Giant Hornets annihilate a hive of ~30,000 European bees.

Sadistically horrific, and disturbing. But it's only bees, I suppose.

hmm. i dont think i have the right codec or something. all i get is a lightgray box where the movie should be playing, but i do get sound, and the narrator sounds pretty good and enthusiastic.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Those poor Bee's.Ã,  :(

I hate bee's, so i couldn't care less about them.

But yes. A somewhat disturbing video.

Privateer Puddin'

We must stop them before they take over the world.

I found that rather disturbing, even if it was 'only bees'

Hehe, makes it seem really dramatic, even though if I saw it in real life I'd probably just shrug and keep walking, unless the bees came after me, in which case I'd run.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

So whats a hornet? Is that like a wasp or something? ???

Evil

A hornet is basicly a wasp but more agressive.

I thought the movie was interesting. Thank god I live in Iowa where the worst we have are timber spiders.

I saw that on the National Geographic channel a while back. It looks just like Starship troopers! Little bees clinging to the backs of flying hornets, etc...

Some of the other info in the NG film was interesting:
The hornets are Japanese, and the bees are European imports.
Japanese bees kill the hornet scouts by swarming over them and vibrating up to 113 fahrenheit - the hornet dies at 112F and the bees at 114F.
The hornet sting contains 13 different nasty chemicals, and a sting is usually fatal. [EDIT - ok, maybe not usually fatal, but can be fatal.]
There was also a funny bit where a Japanese hornet researcher dug up a queen during the winter from a little hollow under a tree and cradled her in his hand and stroked her, before tucking her back into bed.

I smell an Oscar.. Or a Golden Globe even.. Maybe two or three!

hehe.. I like how this was done.. You could picture this as a war epic so easily.

Is there a higher resolution version out there somewhere that I can download?
You. Me. Denny's.

Waah! I can't see it :'(

I really want to see that, since I'm fairly interested in most junk.

Some myth counterage: hornets in general are in fact much less aggressive than smaller wasps (unless you provoke them, of course). Also, their sting is almost certainly not fatal unless you're allergic.

That still doesn't stop us from being completely scared of this video though.

Good find Flip, as always.

Pet Terry

Nice video. I hate bees and usually when I watch this kind of videos I get the feeling that something small is climbing up my body...

Their venom is much more powerful/painful than that of European hornets, but it's still very rarely lethal except to people with a wasp venom allergy.
