Why does my version of 'The Gimp' (general drawing program) NOT have a line tool or a circle and square tool?
Do I have a really old version?
Does Gimp not have these tools all the time?
WHY??

Are there any other gimpers out there that know?

I don't have GIMP, but in Photoshop and PSP, if you hold down CTRL while using the pancil tool it will draw a straight line..

Thanks buddy - It's shift in GIMP.

It's SHIFT in PS and PSP as well. PS has proper line, circle and box tools as well.

When the quick tips pop up on startup, read a bunch of them. You'll learn a lot. I believe there is a manual downloadable from gimp.org in PDF format... you know, rather than asking how to make a line on an internet forum.Ã,

To make a square/circle:

Use the square or circle selection tool.
Go to the paths menu
Click "Selection to path"
Click "Stroke path"
Fiddle around with the options there until you get a line you like.
