Up until I was about 13, that was how I lived.. we had a TV, but I didn't watch, just read books and occasionally explored the fields. When I got the internet I spent a lot of time reading educational sites, which gradually evened out to a bunch of forums related to things that will have little relevance to my future or my education.

It's kind of refreshing, but very constricting at the same time. Nice to do it every once in a while but living in a box isn't the way to go in the long term.

Aint the internet a grand thing. Now you have such interesting things do you think you could go back to no electric stuff. I was born into a family graced by the presence of a C64 and havre had a computer present at all times in my life. Going for seven weeks without it will be hell.

Funny, I'd welcome the absence of computers for an indetermined amount of time, and you people would crumble without them.Ã,  I just went camping this weekend at our seasonal trailer in Northern New Hampshire and I loved every minute of it.Ã,  No computers, no television, no DVDs.Ã,  All I had was my wife, my kid, a boat, a radio, a grill and our fellow campers.Ã,  That is all one needs to have fun.Ã,  If I could retire there now, I'd do it, but I can't.

Nuthin wrong with living on a farm.  I live on a farm.

However we do have satellite, a big screen, a computer with dial up (as broadband isn't available at our location), a monster stereo system, a dvd player, and other modern luxuries.

However, it's not hard to go without those things... I also went camping this weekend, up in Eagle River.  I had a blast.  It was me sitting around the bonfire with my three best friends, some other old friends from high school, some local women we met.  We talked, joked around, etc.  I was up there from Thursday night to Sunday morning, and not once did I think about TV, or the internet.  There wasn't even running water at the cabin we stayed at... I found myself taking a hobo bath in the restroom of some gas station.

Although, the one luxury I don't think I'd be able to live without is my cell phone... it's just one of those things.

It used to be a common joke in the locker room to put icy hot in certain atheletic equipment.

Hell, I'd love to visit a farm. Especially if you could bring your friends with you. It'd be quite an experience milking the cows, feeding the pigs and chickens, picking the apples... actually, it's one of my goals in life to live in a farm for a day and escape from this smorgasbord of technology.

Too bad we can't trade places. Have my cellphone, HDTV and satellite, and I'll gladly take your milking pan, hoe and shovel.

I live on a farm. I hate it. I suppose I was meant to be a city person... I like the fresh air and everything, but you need to travel so far to get anything.

I'd rather live in a 10-million-dollar mansion.

Having chickens isn't all it's cracked up to be.Ã,  Yeah, you have fresh eggs nearly every day; but when the chickens are laying, the noises they make are nearly enough to drive you up the wall.Ã,  We had a rooster who would start crowing at 1:00 am, there were times when I wanted to go out in my pj's and choke him.Ã,  As for cows... you ever been kicked by one?Ã,  Hoo-boy... I've never been in an airplane, but boy have I flown!
