Title: Going to the UK
Post by: Layabout on Fri 27/08/2004 15:22:30
OK, so I'm catching a plane to the UK on monday, and I will arrive at Heathrow on tuesday night.

For those who may not know, I am from Australia.

Since I have a british passport, this is an open ended working holiday. I do not know if i will return to Australia or what will really happen.

I bought a one way ticket.

Now as there are many UK agsers, It would be interesting to meet some of you. After all the only people I know over there are my relatives and my best friend.

So pm me your mobile phone number, and your location. I will try to visit many of you! And we can get drunk on fosters and find some sheilas and stuff.

I will be staying in london for the 1st week, and if i don't get a job by then, it's off to the relatives.

We should have a Layabrittens in celebration of me!!!

find some sheilas

Is that another slang for playing adventure games? like in the I grove Mark Lovelove  (http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?topic=9059.0) thread?

I would just like to continue our mentally sane session from #ags (becasue i suddenly quit) and ask you;
What type of job will you be looking for?

I love how the gen-gen fills up with useless crap and sends my semi-important post to the second page.

hahaha.

Sheilas is aussie bogan slang for women.

Hehehe, I was just playing Breath of Fire III, and there's one point in which an Aussie Dolphin attacks the main character, and uses the word Sheilas, referring to the girls in the party.

Your world should be shutting up.

Bah! Don't go to england, you will never see the sun again, you will lose any tan you have and the people there talk in strange accents. They also use some weird currency over there.

I guess you'll be closer to CJ tho, and many other AGS'ers

Blimey, a one-way ticket to another country, that's quite a life-changing decision. Good luck!  ;)

I'll give Layabout the same advice as I gave Kylie. If you want to make it big over here, wear a skimpy outfit and wiggle your bottom. Alhtough,, I must admit, she said "Nah... na naaa nana na na na"

Or just say that you starred in Neighbours, that ought to sort you out.

Every town you visit will have a "great" chippy. a "fair" chippy and a "poor" chippy.  Designate which is the best, it shall be the source of all your food.

The cinemas in most Midlands towns are grossly overpriced.

We have two types of weather here, cold, and brass monkey weather.  Sun is something that provokes too much excitement in most places you'll go and as such, the word should only be whispered, or you may start a riot, or worst, a debate.
Debating with someone in England (the scottish will tell you where to shove point of view, and the welsh will start speaking in their own language just to annoy you) is an impossible task, we have one rule, we're right, you're not.

Try to remember, we drive on THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD over here, and we have things called SPEED BUMPS every 5 metres in most towns.

PUBS are very popular in Britain, but you'll find most people in them wont want to buy you a drink, despite the image that we like to get hammered in large groups and smash things.

Christmas time over here, should you stay that long.  Is like a particulary gruelling Unreal Tournament assault match, the public declares a spending war on the shops in retaliation for the "Sales Strike" they launch 2 months prior, its usually quite bloody with stupidly large queus for almost ever shop in town.

One final word of advice, everything the BBC tells you is a lie, don't trust them, they just want your soul!!!

Your world should be shutting up.

Am I the only one that notices Unilin's unfair attacks on me.

Also, Layabout.. That's a pretty bold move just flying to England on a one way ticket? Any reason as to why? Or is it too personal.. Since I don't live in Europe, and I only visited one place there.. I don't have much advice... I hear London has pretty high crime rates.. So stay out of dark alleys.
