Title: Good morning
Post by: Pet Terry on Mon 05/12/2005 13:25:47
7:45. My clock radio starts blasting popular music, as usual. I set it off and decide to lay on my bed for a brief moment. I'd get up in ten minutes on my own because that's how it has been every morning.

No.

8:39. I wake up. Panic! I'm supposed to be at work in 21 minutes! I have to be there in time to catch the morning meeting! And by this time I'm usually already leaving off to work! What do I do now?

I sit on my bed for a moment, pondering what to do. I could call my boss and tell her I'll be late. Nah, forget it. I'll get up and change clothes as fast as I can. Breakfast! I pour myself a bowl of Cheerios and a glass of orange juice and have my breakfast faster than ever. I proceed to brush my teeth on double speed. Not bad! Now just to get my bag and off to work!

Wait, I'll be needing some lunch. I'm supposed to have some chicken and rice with some salad, leftovers from yesterday. Duh! Mum hasn't prepared my lunch! So I grab a microwave pizza and a banana and stuff them into my bag.

Scarf, check. Coat, check. Shoes, check. Hat, check. Mittens, check. I take my bicycle and start cycling to work so fast that I would make pretty good opponent to Farlander. Woah, better be careful, it's quite slippery outside. The way to work is 1/3 hills going up, 1/3 hills going down and 1/3 something in between.

9:05. I arrive to work. Phew, the meeting hasn't even started properly yet. I take my seat and sit down, sweating like crazy.

How was your morning?

Well, I didn't really want to wake up today... I was so tired of yesterday. But I had nothing do do, so I just had to wake up, eat some non-healthy breakfast and I even had some minutes to watch TV (but there was nothing interesting to watch).
Then I went to school, nothing remarkably interesting happened there. And then I came back home, turned on the music, then turned on the computer -- and here I am!
That was my morning.

Terrible. I woke up so sore and hurt in body and soul I just decided to stay in bed, and miss out a day in uni.

Good morning to you too, Petey.

Well, I woke up by banging my elbow (my funny bone) on the nightstand next to my bed in an attempt to stretch my arm.  I cussed out loud, waking my girlfriend up.

It was about 6:30 a.m., so I laid in bed listening to the radio and hopefully I would fall back asleep.  Never happened.

So, I got up and had a smoke and a can of pop (the breakfast of champions).

I looked up the number for this place I applied for a job at, and while I was doing that, my girlfriend was looking at the local news, and found that this one woman I know from here in town died on Saturday morning in an automobile accident.

So, I read the article, and am currently doing this, while she is sitting on the couch eating a bowl of cereal and watching "Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo".

At about noon, we'll be leaving for Shawano to go see her grandpa, and her mom at work.  I'll be going to Wal-Mart to see about getting my tires changed.

My eldest daughter, Alba, woke up at midnight coughing and took an hour to get back to sleep. She woke up at 2am, too. Sara, my youngest, woke up at 6am. Alba got up at 7.15 and I got up too. She then proceeded to be in a bad mood about breakfast so it took ages to persuade her to eat anything. Then I went to work.

Woke to a screaming alarm at 6:15am reminding me that in order to get home before lunch i need to leave.

As i turn my head i see the beautiful face of my girlfriend lying next to me, before i know it her alarms ringing telling her to get to school. 8am we leave to get busses, i wait with her until she steps onto the bus. Yay. An 4 hour journey home.

Turns out missing that alarm helped me miss half my day; trains were delayed, busses were cancelled. I've just got home and i missed the important delivery which was due for lunch time, now i've got to book a new delivery time and spend another £10.

that was my day. So far.

That day (Petteri's) sounds similar to my routine.  However, I found I could save rushing-around time by skipping breakfast and waking up only early enough to shower and leave.  After a few years of this, I decided to wake up earlier so I could work the important stuff back into my routine - namely, coffee.  Now I wake up 3 hours early so I can drink more coffee, still skip breakfast and still run out of time.

This aforementioned lack of time is what caused me this morning to: Bark my shins on a coffee table (thankfully blood doesn't show much on black pants), spill hot coffee on my lap (with nobody to sue but myself), and arrive at work in the nick of time only to be told I'm working 12 hours intead of the usual 8 due to a sick call-in.  I actually typed all of this before, with more detail but Safari (Mac browser) crashed spilling all those beautiful letters into the abyss.

Must be something in the air today.

8:30 - Alarm clock woke me up.
8:35 - I'm all dressed up and going to get something to eat.
8:35:40 - Panic. There's nothing to eat here!
8:35:50 - I calmed down because I remembered we get food in school.
8:37 - I turned my computer on and checked my e-mail and the AGS forums as I do every morning.
8:48 - I went to pee.
8:49:30 - I returned to my computer.
9:15 - Oh shit, look at the time. School starts at 9:30! 15 minutes to go!
9:20 - After getting my coat and shoes I went to get my bike.
9:21 - I had troubles opening the lock of my bike because it was frozen.
9:25 - The lock opened.
9:38 - I arrived to school, late of course.

So yeah, I had a very regular morning, thank you for asking.

04:00 went to bed for some sleep! (<-important imformation!)
08:15 Woke up for no reason, without anything to do
08:17 Shitting in the toilet
08:30 On-line
08:50 Left to go to the Bank because the shitheads at Powergen (the electricity company) decided that I hadn't paid the last bill (although I had! I even made a thread about it! 24th October "Banks and how to cheat them!" and was going to sent me debt collectors. Nice guys.  :P)
11:30 Back from the bank and on-line again.
-No sleep until now, and I'm getting tirred, although it is only 16:30. And I don't know why this keeps happening. Maybe because I miss my wife besides me?-

Let's make my personal hell called "routine" really detailed...

7:40 - something hits me through my sleep - the thought that it's morning and if I won't wake up, my mom is waking me up with her usual "I won't wake you if you won't get up, I'm so fucking tired of waking you every morning, use alarm clock as everyone else, bla bla"
So, while totally unconsious, I still have some limited ability to think.
I pull my pillow under my back and set myself up into a "sitting position", lying my back against the wall just where my head is. Then, kind of sitting in bed, I pass out again.

7:41 - my mom opens door to my room and through my extremely strong sleep I still wake up for 2 seconds to see her register: "oh, already up and by himself, miracle". I pass out again. The sitting trick worked again, though I actually both want and must wake up. Sleepy brain works weird and defensively.

7:59 - mom comes into my room and sits onto my bed (weird, she never does that, just nags until the thought of not getting to work if I don't act NOW shakes me up). But no, not today. She sits and drinks her coffee. For next 10 minutes I keep repeatedly passing out and forcing myself to reality, trying to get better sitting position in bed so the sleeping would be harder to do.

8:11 - mom goes to work. I reach my hand for a cigarette. I find coffee (thanks mom). I take a sip and feel strong blow of reality breaking through my sleep. Next thing I do is my first smoke. Since I don't like to die by burning in bed, and my brain knows that, it keeps bringing more and more reality to me.

8:12 - The more puffs I take, the more panicked my mind gets. So it totally wakes me up when first 4 puffs are smoked and it's time to locate ashtray and tap off some ash so it won't fall into bed. Now I'm awake. My head still feels and hums like it's full of bees and eyes hurt, but I can think and move now.

8:14 - I finish the cigarette. Throw a look at the clock and realize that I must really-really get up now. Next move - I turn the computer on. Then to the toilet to take a piss.

8:16 - I press enter to get rid of password screen, then try to open up Mozilla and type in the address to the city transportation system, to see how bad are my chances to get onto bus and arrive at work in time. Next bus: 8:26. I take a note that there's no way I can make it. I quick-check AGS forums, though there's really no time for this, throw another sips of coffee into my throat and shut off the machine. Then I rush to bathroom.

8:25 - I brush my teeth moving both them and the brush, in a speed that leaves me with nanometer thick teeth if I continue to do this for next 2 years. Then take a note that I should have really shaved yesterday...

8:29 - I rush into my room, finish the coffee and insta-dress with 1 minute. After putting my coat on, I realize that I can't go out having a beard bigger than Jewish rabs do. I grab for a razor and rush back to bathroom, without even taking my coat off.

8:32 - after quickshave I rush out. Since I missed the bus, I have to run to another station, a bit less than 1 km away. I do this in 3-4 minutes, being totally breathless when I reach the station. Being a smoker and running really fast on icy ground with -3 degrees of celsius and in freezing cold wind really sucks.

8:42 - a bus arrives. I calculate where's the door when it's stopped, position myself there and wait. Then I force myself through fat old women to get a seat. They swear like hell something in russian. I don't care, it's a 7km trip ahead and there's no way I'm going to sleep on foot and be squeezed between them during this. I'm 21, male and not elegantly dressed so they calm down quickly anyway, because that's the age and look where most people assume that you're either a bandit or a junkie. Especially people like they are.

9:01 - My stop. Another 2 kilometres of freeze running ahead! I wait at the zebra and damn these stupid slow traffic lights.

9:11 - I enter the office. Noone noticed me being late. Success!

Woke up at 5:30 for some reason and fell righ back asleep. Then got up at a quarter to 7, got everything ready in 10 minutes, and ran out to school. Walked several steps, changed my mind and stayed home (I have stye and it's quite painful right now:P). Decided I'd go to the chemistry test in the 5th hour and go back home, then go to the doctor.
Skipped work also. Sat home all day:P.
Then my friend came over at around five to prepare for some test. And told me something that was good to hear :P. Yay, my mood went up quickly.
And now I'm off to walk the dog.

Well, this turned more into a "how was my day" rather than morning:P. That was fun.

There is a persistent gap between midnight and 11:30 in the morning during working days.

[foggy memories]

The alarm clock is set to 6:37, so it must have been 6:37 when I got up. I can't confirm it since I was half asleep. I don't have black smear on my face and foam in my eyes, so I must have used the mascara and the toothbrush appropriately. I must have taken the correct bus and went to the correct office, with the correct clothes on, because buildings, people and files seemed familiar and nobody said anything about my outfit or the time I hit my magnetic card.. First appointment is always at 8:15, so it is likely the first person arrived at 8:15. I found myself holding a hot cup of coffee at 11:30, a cup that was recently used, so it must have been my second coffee. Since I'm not fired, it seems that first coffee helped with automatic reactions such as answering phonecalls, filing envelopes and smiling to people.

[/foggy memories]

11:31 The day went downhill from there... :(

Hmm, having no obligations today, this is how my morning went:

7:00- woke up to some people-getting-ready-to-leave noises, promptly fell back asleep
9:10- woke to use the restroom, went to sleep again afterward
10:15- woke for real this time, layed there for about 20 minutes
10:35- read an Angel comic
10:45- ate a veggie burger with some orange juice
10:50- on computer
11:59- Heineken
1:30- clicking "post" and leaving for a raucus night on the town

Oh, and..

btw, that birthday party didn't last very long right? Low beer stock? 8)

Anyway,
I woke up with a headache this morning, in holland we celebrated 'Sinterklaas' his birthday. (much like santaclaus, but then different). I had some beers and some more beers and went to bed late. My girlfriend couldn't get out so I actually had to remove all the sheetsÃ,  :=, she got cold and got out.

At work was terrible busy.
My car had to go to the garage, they called that my catalysator (or whatever) broke down, and that's an expensive repairÃ,  >:(

But I'm happy :D

The past four days I was in california (it sends a chill right to my new yorker's soul) in my uncle's trailer so my mornings were messed up.  Went something like this:

8:00 : My mother wakes up, waking me & my brother up as well.  We both pretend to be asleep for another while, simply to not get up.
8:30 : My mother wakes me and my brother up.
8:35-9:30 : We sit in a chair doing absolutely nothing until breakfast is cooked.
10:00 : We go to my grandmother's house.  Where we sit in a chair doing absolutely nothing until lunch is ready.

But there were a few benefits from going:
-Seeing my grandmother drunk "I had alot of white wine" and lifting a $70 clay pot in the air by one hand, while her entire family yells at her to stop.
-Getting to tease my cousin for getting kissed on the lips by the insane owner of a greek restaraunt
-Watching my older brother attempt to spike my grandmother's dog's water with rum
-Same crazy greek restaraunt owner sticking a dollar bill all the way down my aunt julie's shirt.
-Every member of the family save for my mother, my aunt kathy, my uncle and all the minors plastered.

7:00 My alarm clock radio turns on. Then i get pissed that morning has come so fast, and wonder why time flies when i'm sleeping.

7:25 Finally decide to get out of bed and head into the bathroom.

7:30 Finished using the toilet (sometimes, don't have too)

7:35 Head into a nice hot shower for about 10 to 15 minutes.

7:45/7:50 Exit shower, brush teeth, put on deodorant, get all nice and clean.

7:51 Get dressed and get even more pissed about having to get up so early and go to work.

8:00 Sitting in car waiting for it to warm up and defrost my windows.

8:15 Arrive at work, and looking forward (NOT!!) to the workday ahead of me.

I hate mornings. I wish i could sleep 24/7 and not work. But, bills and rent have to be paid somehow.

Next day, Rinse and Repeat.

Here was a recent morning I had:

12:01 AM - Arrive at the hospital with my wife who's water has just broken.
12:45 AM - Get checked into a room and have the tummy hooked up to a baby heartbeat/contraction monitor.
12:50 AM - Checking... nope.  Only 3 cm.  Got a long way to go.
1:30 AM - Contractions grow in intensity and pain.
2:00 AM - 7:00 AM - Grab two or three minutes of sleep in between each painful contraction, wake-up, coach the wife's breathing, fall asleep sitting up again.
7:00 AM - Contractions are less than 3 minutes apart, time for another check... nope.  6 cm.
7:00 AM - 8:00 AM - Holy crap this looks painful.  Wife's eyes are rolled up into her head.
8:00 AM: Another check... nope.  6.5 cm.  No way!
8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - Wife howling in pain.  Me crying my eyes out.
9:10 AM: Another check... 9cm!  It's go time!  It takes three nurses and me to move her out of the bed and into the delivery chair.
9:15 - 9:50: Lot's of pushing.  Where the hell is the doctor?
9:58: Doctor strolls in.  Peeks down there.  Throws on some gloves.
9:59: Doctor catches the baby, clears her air passages, hands her to the nurse, and heads back to the golf course.

Ok. A couple of question for you Vince:

1. Do you know of Epidural? You didn't know, you didn't want, your religion didn't allow you to (I think Indians for example want to really feel pain). How about other pain reliefes. For your wife, not for you!
2. Aren't you being a little obessive with your child and wife and all? Come on you had a baby. So what? Everybody does it sometime? Do you know that all your last post where about your baby? Stop it. Look at me! I think that in 650 posts 600 have a mentioning of my son(s) in and take a look at my avatar! That's the way to go! (<-of course just kidding)

You know, from this thread I now know that girlfriends/wifes are the ones that wake men up and not alarm clocks! hehe!

Interesting fact: they don't do Epidurals except in a few hospitals in Japan.  It's a cultural rather than religious thing though.  They're just all about natural birth.  I'm not sure about the exact reasons.  But my wife, after all that, is all for going to America to get some epidural action when and if we have another!

08:30 The taxi is here
09:00 We arrive at Japan National Airport

I...

- Woke up
- Tried to deny I was awake
- Failed
- Got up
- Put on some Invader Zim
- Made breakfast (basmati rice flavored with chicken boullion cubes and turkey bacon crumbled into it, because I'm a freak)
- Made a token effort to clean my apartment because my dad is coming to visit me for my birthday
- Played around with AGS and got super-damn stuck on some scripting stuff
- Went to my local internet cafe to post this drivel and check e-mail and LJ

Pretty typical, actually, except for the part where my dad is showing up...

According to your breakfast-> Yes you are a freak!

But so am I-> Yesternight I had friends in. And I cooked a very nice roasted Lamb. Well, I ate the rest for breakfast  today! :P

I have a lady bike (http://www.bikester.co.uk/ladies-bikes.html) that I ride frantically to work everyday...it's a pain but at least I can sleep longer every morning!

My morning started on 1 AM after a mere hour of sleep. I started studying for my final exam on Database Systems, which was on 8:30. I had a banana for breakfast and got to my university just in time for the exam.

Now I'm debating whether going to sleep and thus further screwing up my sleep schedule is more favourable than enduring a few hours as a day zombie until I finally get to sleep at the time "normal" people do.
