Anyone on it yet?
What do you think?
I'm liking it at the moment. It's a nice toy for sure and its certainly a lot less nosey than Facebook, although it's difficult to decide if it is really going to compete. I prefer it as a tool, but then I've always had a bit of a grudge against FB. FB was good at allowing me to get in touch with old school friends, but now I've been in touch with them and have no reason to talk to them again.
I feel there is a lot more that can be done with G+, but I guess that's what these early stages are for. I've had to unfollow some people that I had been following because they post too much and clog up my stream, but some clever things can be done with the circles to avoid such problems, it's just a case of fiddling around.
If anyone wants a look, PM me your gmail address and I should be able to send you an invite. :-)
Wait, are you Stuart Forbes?? :o
Oh man, when I first saw your picture, I was absolutely sure that you're an old friend of mine, you look exactly like him!!
Back on topic, I have Google+, but I haven't given it a proper inspection yet, I haven't even seen the movies yet...
On the surface, I was way more impressed with Google Wave, and after seeing what happened with that (and with Buzz as well), I'm a lot more cautious and I won't delve too deep into the Google+ world until I see that it really catches up.
I feel that the whole circles thing, is not as intuitive as Facebook and the likes, and the benefit of the circles is not so big as to sweep the world with its coolness.
But then again, I really didn't see the benefits of the tablets at first, and now I'm the proud owner of two...
Haha, I guess I just have one of those faces :=
I agree it doesn't really seem to be doing anything that you can't paricularly already do with other tools, but it seems to be doing a good job of bringing these things together and not making a total dogs dinner of it. Another thing G+ seems to be aiming to do is to make its other products more accessible using G+ as a kind of hub. Google Wave tried this (and did a good job, I thought) but it was missing the Facebook-esque social element.
I still think it will take something shy of a miracle to convert the masses away from Facebook, but if they manage to convert enough cool people to keep it going and keep the chavs festering on Facebook, then I won't mind.

I think that xkcd strip sums it up pretty nicely.
Secret Fawful invited me, and gets rather mushy inside if anyone says anything bad against the "Googsplus", but I still feel that it's too early on to make a real judgement. I like certain aspects and ideas (like the Circles which allows me to check in on certain select groups without having to as heavily adjust my stream updates). However, there's not a lot of people actually on it yet, so it's left feeling rather empty.
Provided that people actually start signing up for it, it could become a competitor for Facebook over time, but for now it's just another place to post the exact same updates and let your friends see them all over again. :=
P.S. I have invites. Do want? PM for details.
This might be a silly question, but just go with it, how does a Google+ invite look like and how much invites do you get and who gets them? I mean, I got a mail from a contact with a youtube video in it, on my gmail account and it said:
QuoteProject + Google users currently smooths out minor problems with a small group of examiners. If you can not access the Google Project +, please try again later.
And there's a button for "Know more about Google+".
QuoteThere you have received the message because it is user TB shared with the user myname@gmail.com. Cancel your subscription to these emails.
So I assumed it was just some post or something that friend made and that some sort of message service was turned on (like the Buzz feed thingy) or something. Was that an invite to G+?
It's a post that your friend added you to, and through it you can be invited to Google+. It means exactly what it said, you should try clicking the link in your email later, and then perhaps you will be added to Google+.
Dammit! >.<
When I was updating my profile, it was too early in the afternoon for me.
I forgot to increase my age by the required year, and so will now have to wait a whole month! :(
If anyone has an invite they'd like to share, I'd be more than willing to receive it!

I STAKE A CLAIM TO SENDING THAT INVITE ZOR! :=

So, wait, I'm confused? Are you
not this Stuart Forbes (https://plus.google.com/106891043556282023178/posts)? Coz that Stuart Forbes added me, and if that's not somebody around here then I have no idea who he is. But he does have Vince in his circles just like I do coz having Vince in your circles is the cool thing to do.
Haha, yes thats me :D
Theres a few AGSers in my circles if you have a snoop.
Trouble is not knowing everyone's faces or real names. G+ should have a way to label friends with a nickname, especially if you only know them by their internet handle (do we still call it a 'handle' these days?)
Aw man, I want to be involved in this magical AGS pixie circle.
And...and.. Google had webcammy type talking technology built into gmail and that other thing they did that I can't remember the name of so maybe this could one day replicate the magic that used to happen on the AGS Stickam rooms.
I got powerfully nostalgic for those today.

Check your Gmail Eggie.
G+ does have 'Hangouts' where you can get up to ten people with webcams together. I'm without cam at the moment so I haven't been able to try it, but apparently it's pretty good.
Man, I wish I knew what my g-mail account was. I only once logged in when I created it with my android-phone :P
Yeee-heeeah! My AGS circle is set up, primed and ready.
Now this website juuuust needs to turn out to be actually useful
EDIT: Woah, what you were saying about finding people by their forum names... They thought of everything!

Thanks for the invite Monkey! Maybe we could post our real names in this thread, so it'd be easier to find each other? I'm "Dieter Stassen" if anyone wants to add me.
I'd like an invite, too: gardner (at) gmx (dot) net
Thanks! :)
Khris, I sent you an invite!
Might I have an invite? midiforthepeople[at]gmail[dot]com ::)
Not gonna bother with it personally, unless I really can't escape it in the future. Just another internet fad. A bit late in the running, too. Can't be arsed to set up a new social network profile, doing my best to leave all social networking sites as it is. But yeah it's obvious a lot of people are going to try it out. But I assume these are people with plenty of time on their hands and never went through the conversion from myspace to facebook, or yahoo profiles to myspace, or icq to yahoo profiles, or having a life to icq. :P
@Jon - check your Gmail :D
@Mods - I clung on to Myspace for all my life until I was forced to concede that nobody used it anymore. Had a grudge against Facebook from day one and it only ever got worse. And I made things worse for by adding all my old school friends (which at the time seemed like FB's only redeeming quality). With Google I'm going to be a bit more fussy about who I add. I no longer play Pokemon so I haven't got that 'gotta catch 'em all' mentality. Facebook can be where I dump all my shit jokes and rubbish updates that no-one wants to read, I might decide to use G+ a bit more maturely.

Thanks, didn't get it though, not sure why. It didn't end up in the Spam folder either. Maybe you need a google address?

My very first Facebook status was something along the lines of "I'm a total sell-out and I'm never going to get anything done. Thanks a lot Mark Zuckerberg." I added people I went to school with until I realized..I didn't even talk to most of them once after adding them. Now I've trimmed the fat of my Facebook "friends", but there's still a few that I don't really keep in contact with that often.

Of course! Links to YouTube and Twitter! The peak of maturity! :=

Haha, I said 'might'... I need to weigh up the options...
Spoiler
fart
It's rather odd to exist in a social network where's not very much network yet.
At least, no more "like, share & annoy your 999 friends with this and win a free <some dumb crap like women shoes>" nor farmville requests. This I like.
But still, nobody uses it yet.
What to do?
That's actually somewhat of my dilemma. I feel less inclined to share things via Google+ because more of the people I actually care to reach are on Facebook at the moment than are on G+, but yet it does feel much nicer sharing things there. :=
G+ does sound interesting. Kind of like Facebook, but fresh and new. Also, the fact that it's not Fb makes it a lot more intriguing. :=
Right now, most of my activity on Fb consists of 'liking' silly posts and posting silly comments on silly posts...
Like Stupot said, it would be great to at least try to use G+ more maturely, but I'd have to have an account to even try first.
So, if anyone has an invite lying around.. (Send it to vohaulthreepwood@gmail.com, plzkthx)? :D
Try that, Bob :D
Check you're male.
Thank you very much, kind sir Stupot(+). ;D
If people are looking for me you can find me with the people finder if you search for 'Wyz', I'm the one with the green user icon. Actually there might be a change I've already added you. ;)
If anybody has a spare invite, I still didn't get one :( :D
khrismuc (at) googlemail (dot) com
and if anyone's feeling generous, you could in invite me as well? ::)

Try chat, chaps :D
Looks intresting, I would love an invite if still possible :)
My Gmail is Bulbapuck@gmail.com
Done Bulba :D
Thanks for the invites guys :D Really awesome of you.
Looks like viral marketing is working once more ;D
Thanks guys, I'm in :)
Apart from anything else, it makes you have loads more free space in Picasa, just for signing up to G+!

Yeah, I uploaded a bunch of photos just because I could. ;D ...after that, I kind didn't know what else is there to do, then I remember why I never had a proper Facebook account (I only have one to access some online games and stuff).
The circles thing is interesting, because there's a friends and acquaintances part, if the Friends option on FB wasn't akward enough sometimes. I guess there should be a circle added for "People I have to add out of politness, but don't really want to have contact with" ;D
Slightly off-topic, but I only recently found out that in facebook you can also sort people into lists and then appear online only to the lists you choose.
@anian: You can make your own circles! ;D

Yeah, I know.
So far it seems like a pretty neat service. Borrowing a bit from Fb and Twitter, adding a bit here and there, giving it a Google-ish touch. I like it. :)
It's a bit empty though. Not that I miss the mess that Facebook is what with all the friends posting and bands announcing new events, but a little more activity would be nice.
So if anyone wants to add me, feel free to do so. You can find me by my name, Marcus Svensson, but since it's pretty common I think searching for CoffeeBob should work as well. ;D
Boo, Facebook!
I'm keen to get an invitation to the ball: vanwijst *$~(gmail)~$*dot=com.
I have sent you an invitation... if I translated all that stuff right. :=
Oh no! I forgot to post and now a precious invite has been wasssttteeed! :D
I actually invited Baron shortly after he posted. And there doesn't really seem much to be translated. Just the first bit followed by teh @gmail.com. Also, if your email address is "teh@gmail.com", feel free to accuse me if you start receiving loads of spam. :=

yeah! i dont get why anyone joins it tbf i think i know one person on it.... not impressed.
nice toon tho!
Another social networking site, i have absolutely no use for.
yeah, exactly, another way to have people's inane witterings spouted at you endlessly. reminds me a lot of that advert 'just bought broccoli LOL' even though the dog in a wig is actually pretty cool.
(better?!)
Bailey, do you work for a website called Wimdou? or has one of us been attacked with malware that randomly inserts the word wimdou, and links to 'wimdu.co.uk'?
