Here's the latest from my gang of video jokesters, "That's Awesome!"

Happy Halloween, and feel free to leave comments here or on youtube.com   Everyone enjoys reading what you think, especially the guy who plays Brawny Man.

P.S.   Thanks for visiting last time timosity.   I didn't realize anyone had posted until the guys were all sitting around and someone said, "oh hey, did you see that a guy from Australia commented on our movie!?"   Haha.

we also did a purposefully bad rendition of Thriller, but I don't think it's been uploaded.   We were playing off the fact that everyone and their grandma has performed Thriller at some point in time.

The Scorposer

That was great! I also loved 'Laugh Track Day' BTW. The guy in the wheelchair is hilarious :D

Domino

That was a classic. Very well done also.  I would like to comment on the Brawny Man, but i don't want him to come over here and kill me.  :) (very good)

Evenwolf, you were good too.

Great work!!

Shawn

LGM

That was very very funny. I'm indeed jealous of your TV series, evenwolf :(
You. Me. Denny's.

Evil

Somewhat off topic, but Zach Anner is hilarious. The three months of news to We Didn't Start the Fire made me die of laughter.

Raggit

That was really, really random!   ;D

Scorposer:

Thanks for the comments on Laugh Track Day.  I'll tell zach you enjoy his humor.

Domino:
You should totally tell him what you think!  He's quenched his taste for blood.  ;)   And  thanks, altho my performance in this one was very minimal as I was too worried about camera work and technical whatnot.

[lgm]:
I'm jealous too.   P.S.  Peaches n' Regalia rocks.

Evil:
That News segment took the most work of anything.  I did most of the photoshops and all of the animating... and hearing that damn song 800 times while editing is exhausting as hell.  My character is a rip on Quentin Tarantino's name if anyone caught that.

Raggit:
Thanks I think.  We'll keep up the randomness

That blood looked very convincing. What recipe did you use? Corn Syrup, Red Dye and Peanut Butter? That's what I do, and it looks alright.

Oh and, you are partially correct. Not only does Peaches en Regalia rock, but Frank Zappa in general rocks!
You. Me. Denny's.

Corn syrup, water, red dye  (adams extract to be exact), &  flour.

Never tried peanut butter for thickening.  Seems a little more expensive.   But this time it was the first time I mixed it all in a blender..  So I went very thick with the flour.

Well, the peanut butter is actually more of coloring agent. It makes the corn syrup opaque, much like real blood.

I never thought of using a blender! Duh!

But generally I do something like this:

1 quart of Corn Syrup
1 Oz. Red Dye
4-5 drops of Blue Dye
1/2 cup of Peanut Butter (smooth)
1-2 cups of Water (if you want it to flow easier)

Basically, you pour the Corn Syrup in a big bowl (or blender) and then put in the Red Dye. I usually do half the bottle of Dye, then mix, put some water in, mix, then the rest of Dye, mix again. After that you add the peanut butter and some more water, and mix it all some more until the peanut butter is blended in nicely.

Now here's the part that's all about preference. Take a look at the color by dribbling it on something white. Usually it's always a bright, cherry red color. That's no good cause it usually looks like candy syrup! So then you take some blue dye (not too much, or the blood'll turn purple) and blend it around some more until you get a dark red. Put some on your skin to see what it looks like. If your satisfied, you're done. And if it seems a bit too thick, add some more water to it. If you do end up putting too much blue in, green can counter-act it a bit, but will make the blood darker. It'll look black unless you spread it about.

This a good recipe I came up with, based on a few different ones combined. Because the blood is edible (but it tastes terrible) and it's usually washable (only really stains pure white things, but bleach can get it out) it's good for use in films and even halloween. If you're not putting the blood in anyone's mouth, you can always put some dish soap in it. This way it'll flow even better, and it's less likely to stain stuff.

Here's what it looks like on a door:

Edit: Hey, if you use this in a later show or something, you can credit me as "Blood Master!" haha.
You. Me. Denny's.

Domino

Yeah, sure that's fake blood!! It's real blood. Who did you kill LGM?

:)

Evil

LGM, how many times must I tell you. GREEN not BLUE. Green. That way it doesn't turn purple.

Domino

The Laugh Track video was amazing. I was laughing my ass off the whole time watching this. It was funnier than alot of crap that is on TV now adays.

I did notice at the end that the man in the wheelchair who is supposed to be paralyzed from the waist down was moving his legs.  Was that just for the sake of humor or was that just a mistake that nobody noticed?

Otherwise, You are doing a great job, and good luck in Hollywood when you get their someday.

Have a good one,

Shawn

Well in the first bit of Laugh Track Day, which I call Mass Harrassment,  Zach tells Kevin "I'm paralyzed from the waist down" as an excuse not to have sex with him.   This isn't true as Zach's condition is actually cerebral palsey.

It's not so much a continuity flaw as it is a character's inconsistency, but you did a fine job of catching that.

LGM-  your recipe is noted!   Try flour sometime because it absorbs the dye and makes it patchy.   I like my blood real dark.

Does anybody use Adobe Encore to make DVD menus, or just DVDs in general?

Im spending part of the day learning how to use it, and its not as complicated as an editing program I don't think... but does anybody have any sweet sweet tips or features?

Im designing the layout of the main menu in Photoshop.  Hopefully I can make transitions between other menus in premiere.   Man, its kind of exciting.

Excellent. The video quality was superb and everything was well thought out. I can't wait for more.

Minimi

I watched all movies, and I love it... just one question...

is he really paralised? Is he really in a wheelchair, because his acting is very convincing!

Nikolas

Brilliant stuff!

I'm laughing sooooo hard right now! :D

minimi:  you watched all 11 videos?   sweet!   Oh, and Zach is not paralyzed.  He can crawl around on his knees or even swim if he wanted to.   He has cerebral palsey which was caused by premature birth.  He was born before his brain had developed important connections between the axons or neurons or whatever that controlled important motor skills.  Sometimes CP effects a person's speech and causes them to sound dumber than they actually are.   (anybody watch Ricky Gervais's "Extras"?)   But in Zach's case his CP had no effect on verbal ability, and I would argue- indirectly made Zach verbally and socially empowered.

Nikolas:    thanks amigo!
