Happy valentines day! I love you all so very much! Unfortunatley the only thing I'm giving you is crabs. Anyone got anything special planned today? I'm just doing a dinner and movie, seeing Definatley, Maybe, the Ryan Renolds film. Nothing exciting, but it's nice

Unfortunately the girl I'm getting with at the moment lives 2 hours away because I'm not moving near her town for another week... so the best I could do was send a rose. Everyone, get your lovin' on, today's the day for it!

I don't think it's a farce because of Hallmark (any more than any other holiday). I hate valentines day because if a man needs a holiday as an excuse to be romantic to a woman and show his love to her ... he's already lost and might as well not even bother.

Sometimes I think romance has died because of valentines day. People assume that cramming all their romance into that one day is enough for the year. And then even sadder, a lot of women I've talked to soooo eagerly look forward to that one day 'cause they know it's the only time of year romance is lumped on them. And what's worse is they accept this. I find that sad.

But hey ... to each their own.

I complete agree with that, Valentine's Day should NEVER be the only day a year romance is given out... which is as you say, an unfortunate reality for some. But the way I view Valentine's Day is a celebration of the idea of romance, not just an excuse to only do it one day a year. So enjoy the day everyone, and bear in mind you should be romantic every day of the year, if you're fortunate enough to have that special someone.

Sad but true. And also sad but true that some people really need an Official Day to kick their butts into romance gear.

And then some people don't know romance any day of the year, even on VDay.

My family's like that.

I like the idea of VDay, even when I was single. It's a celebration of something good, and I always find that uplifting. It's like a mini-Christmas. People may be cynical about it, but you can't deny that the spirit of it is good, and people should be reminded of that. Otherwise it's easy nowadays to affect cynicism about everything on earth, because it's cooler and edgier than mushy mushy feelings like hope and love.

In my school we're calling it Friendship Day, and kids love any excuse to give lots of pretty and yummy things to their friends.

I remember Valentine's Day used to be a good day to score. Every single girl is looking... We're not really doing anything with my girlfriend this year, she's got other school related things to go about at the moment, so an SMS will do

Also, Valentine's Day is just a pathetic excuse for a holiday set up by Hallmark, and the flower companies to try to trick men into tricking women into having sex... I love it...

Actually, we have.
But I see not much sense in it. I mean, it's just another day like any other of them. Nothing extraordinary. I know, the love and this kind of stuff, but I find it....kind of....silly? Why should you wait for 14th of February to say someone you love him/her? Can't you any other day? Or is it more "excusable" to do it today? I don't neglect Valentines day, but.....you know...what does actually Happy Valentines Day mean?
