Have any of you used old drawing programs for an authentic oldschool game feel. I found a demo cd from 1992 with a really nice one I might use. If you have used one whats the name, and what do you like about it/features of it.

I had PC Paintbrush circa 1993, but the 3.5" floppies i have went bad and i can no longer load the program on my computer.

Now, i'm using NeoPaint, but i really liked PC Paintbrush.

PaintBrush! I remember that, back in the days of 16-color displays and 640x480 resolution. A classic. I once used a DOS painting program, I can't remember the name. DPaint mayhaps?

NeoPaint was a great proggy. And free too.

DPaint is another good one.

And the Autodesk Animator also has some useful tool for a DOS proggy.

PaintBrush was like the most used program on our OLD computer back then early 90's.... My laptop has pbursh.exe, but running it opens Paint... >:(
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

We had a program called DrHalo on our first PC. This was around 90-91.
It was awesome.

I used to use a program called Grafx.  I'm not sure if it's old though.  I also used to play around with the Paint that came with the Win 3.1 on my old 486.

PaintBrush was probably the earliest graphics app I used.  I didn't really use my computer for graphics much back then, but I remember when they switched the name of the program to Paint (in what, Win95 I think?) I felt kind of sad for some reason.

Well I can't remember well but two of my first used graphics apps were Take One and a paint programme written in Applesoft basic (by myself) on Apple ][.

Ahh, good old Deluxe Paint was my poison. I used to have SO much fun with the snowflake/mirror feature. *sigh* Now I'm gonna go and cry about how I don't have an Amiga anymore.

I remember Dr. Halo.. but back then I was only 7 or 8 so I didn't get a lot of use from it. I remember drawing simple things like happy faces and my dad would print it out and hang it on the fridge, haha.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

TheDude

I'd say Mario Paint was one of my first paint progs!! I didn't get a PC until about 1995 if I can remember. I loved that "game".

MacPaint on a 128k Mac back in the mid-eighties somewhen. My Dad printed out my pics and hung them somewhere, too.

Heh, thats cute. I remember drawing big elaborate drawings which used every color on the pallet, and then I would print them out. They would come out just SOGGY with ink and then I would wait for 5 min, blowing on it until it dried and ran upstairs to put it on the fridge. (and about every drawing I did took a major hit from the ink cartrage.) And then my dad would try and print a document and yell, "Where the $*#@ did all the ink go!!!". So then I just saved my work on the comp from then on.

Yay, I remember that (about Deluxe Paint 5, I think). I used to be so amazed by the fact that I could actually produce animations, right there on my computer. I remember making little aminated credits for crappy 'films' me and my mates made with someone's video camera.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

DGMacphee

Kinoko, have you tried UAE?

It's probably the best Amiga emulator out there.

Deluxe Paint 2 on the PC.. I also tried Deluxe Paint 4 (Using WinUAE), but using an emmulator to do graphics just seems too complicated.

KIDPIX!!!! on my old mac, hell that was great. "ouch" "ohh no!" "ouch" , i loved that undo button. ohhhhh and dot forget the dynamite tool, cleared the whole screen it did.  ;D

Sluggo

I use DPaint too, and I'm (sort of) still making a game in the old school style (if anyone actually remembers it). You could go to my website to check it out, but I only posted one screen shot. I haven't worked on it in a while, but I haven't cancelled it.

Oh my gosh... I completely forgot about that program. I used to repeatedly press the 'undo' button and the kids who sat around my computer would tell me to be quiet. And I adored the stamp collections and the eraser tools; hell, I enjoyed everything about that program.

You've brought a little bit of my childhood back to me. For that, I thank you.
